***OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs. CSKA Moscow***

Except you wouldn't have done. I left just seconds before the final whistle (something I never normally do) and there was very little delay getting to Wembley Park. Just a couple of short waits, thanks no doubt to the thousands of early get-aways like your good self  and the 20,000 stay-aways.

I don't leave early at WHL but Wembley with 70,000-90,000 people is a different kettle of fish.

We are only allowed to use the full capacity for a handful of games I believe so it shouldn't be as bad.

It will be interesting to see what happens with regard to capacity next year.

Yes, Wembley's licence limits the number of events that can be held with a full stadium, but this isn't a firm cap. They can apply to Brent Council to hold any number of additional events/games.

So in theory it is possible for use to have full capacity available for every game. I'm pretty sure we'll be using this year's European games to make the case that more full capacity events.

AIUI evening events are particularly worrisome for the locals, though this might apply more with 'music' events.

It bothered me when rebuilding that they didn't do something more imaginative with the transport links, and with storing the pitch outside the ground to allow more events that wouldn't damage the grass.

I imagine the police would have a big say in this as well. If the overall capacity were increased, would we be expected to increase capacity for away fans too?
When leaving WHL, the crowds disperse pretty quickly in different directions, although of course there is still some queuing at the rail stations. But at Wembley, whilst there are options other than Wembley Park Station, that seems to be by far the most used exit route. Kettling/escorting Chelscum, Goon, Spam* fans etc down Wembley Way, when everyone is leaving at more or less the same time, sounds like a challenge.

*May not be a problem next season ;)

Well I suppose THFC can take the stance of the Metropolitian Police and say nothing to do with us what happens outside the stadium

On the basis that Wembley/Spurs will be paying for the policing outside of the stadium that might not work. ;)

Every game whether it falls under the threshold for a full stadium or not is subject to consultation with the police. Capacity and kick off times are agreed between Wembley, the Police, and Brent (and to a lesser extent TFL).

It's ultimately a decision on risk, and the more the stadium and club can do to show that processes are in place to mitigate those risks, the better the chance of getting more high capacity games. That's why our CL games will have been used as a learning exercise.

People dispersing in different directions is actually seen as undesirable as it reduces the police's visibility and has a bigger impact on local businesses and residents. The ability to funnel everyone down to Wembley Park or the Wembley Stadium mainline station is seen as a lower risk from a crowd control perspective.

Every year Wembley has cup semis and finals where rival fans are pushed together before and after the game. Very rarely is there any trouble in or around the stadium.

All good points. Makes perfect sense

So bring on a full capacity NLD but limit away fans for safety reasons after risk assessment. :)

For that one we should put the away section in the top tier at the back somewhere surrounded on 3 sides by that black segregation netting.

Rules for next season state that part of the away section has to be pitch side, so you can no longer stick away fans in the top tier

In the 75th minute, right on cue, thousands of people got up and started leaving. Then our own fans started singing "is there a fire drill" and "we can see you sneaking out" to each other!

Definitely a far more enjoyable game than most of our trips to Wembley bar 2008. Thought we should have given more of a run out to the fringe players to be honest but it looks like the team is starting to click and build a bit of momentum now. Let's make no mistake, there will be far harder games to play in the Europa League than this one, and we now have a massive game on the weekend that the players will be tired for, but it's good to see the likes of Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Walker and Rose coming into form as we go into the busy Christmas period.
Manure will have had less rest and a trip back from Ukraine to contend with, so I wouldn't be too worried. And they played close to their first team tonight.

I know, but rules also say we should get more tickets for cup games at their place than they ever give us.

It was nice to beat CSKA which means we qualify to the EL. It was very important for us to get our first win at Wembley after so many tries. Just wish we had done much better against Monaco and Leverkusen there as well. But despite this win, we are still wasting too many goal scoring chances in front of goal. We need to improve on this if we want to go further in EL.
