I think if relegation had become more of a concern then he'd have had to have been sacked - once that essentially was off the cards it rested on Euopean progress.

I wouldn't read anything into today's performance, TBF. League season is over, we played the champions away and were always going to have our sights set on the EL semis. Rightfully so, IMO.
That said; there's enough evidence from games that actually mattered to show that we need a change of manager come summer.

We were always gonna lose today. For lots of reasons. But there are ways to lose games. That’s wasn’t it. An absolute embarrassment to our club. It doesn’t compute for me that we’ll win the Europa after being so fudging awful this season. If we do, he should still be gone the next day. A really poor football manager at this level.

if we do win it, the only long term conclusion you can draw is that the opposition wasn’t great. Tbh i can’t see us beating bilbao at their home stadium, i struggle to see us beating united and i think unless we are at least 3 up against bodo after thursday we will capitulate on their artificial pitch

Credit to Liverpool, worthy champions and they have been the outstanding team all year, consistent and again today obviously. I thought we started the game well and sort of made things difficult for them. Even apart from the goal, I thought just in general I thought we had decent territory but once they got in front with the atmosphere inside the stadium fair to say it was going to be difficult for us to claw them back and that's how it proved.

It is very disheartening to lose matches in this sort of manner and it keeps happening. This should have been a derby but they gave us no chance, we played like a 15th place team that we are. Even if we win Europa League we are going to be some sort of Ten Hag's United, not a match for the top teams but sneaking in a trophy somehow. This is not sustainable and it wasn't for United either. I was prepared to forget everything if we won the Europa League and I still am, but I fear that next season we will be mid table too if he stays.
