***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds United, Mon May 11th, 8pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium***

Ricky Villa
Two down, three to go.
No arsssssing about, just do the twist again like we did last Sunday night at Villa Park.
FINALLY we can acknowledge some true warriors in 2025/26 Tottenham, which is EXCELLENT!
Whatever it is the DeZerbi crew Gallagher's tea, more of it, because he was like a pack of rampaging relentless savage dogs, refusing to let go. He must not let go of that bone!
Palhinha, looking more like Billy Bob Thornton's character from the Fargo TV series Lorne Malvo, and playing with the same regard for opposition - right down to the smiles at every ball won - cannot afford any less against Leeds.
Look, we could go through the whole team, truth is, Villa Park was a resurrection and we now we need to keep our foot 100% on the Iron's necks, no respite, no relief.
No-one is going to help us, this continues to be Tottenham Hostpur versus the world, and with DeZerbi winning the war inbetween our eyebrows and hairlines, we have managed to wrestle back total control of our destiny this season.
We have always had enough about us, and we have always had the ingredients to survive.
We just needed a chef who extoled the virtues of the ingredients we have.
And that is what MUST continue to happen.
He's no fool.
He knows the hard work starts NOW. No point slapping each other's backs just yet, in fact, all we've done is set the standard we must consistently achieve for ourselves.
Whoever we face.
But look, again, it's two out of five with three to go, and with Audere Est Facere flowing once again on and off the pitch, there are NO excuses.
NONE!
COYS!

This one won't be easy because Leeds are on a good run and all the noise surrounding Villa rotating players will make them wary of taking their foot off the gas. Still, they're not particularly defence minded, which is what I fear the most right now. A team parking the bus is probably the worst proposition for us at the moment because we need wins (not draws) and we still lack the creativity to lockpick a tight defence.

Hopefully, they'll play a more expansive game, which will allow us to make the most of our newfound pressing ability.

Takes me back to over 50 years ago when we had Chelsea, Woolwich and Leeds to play in our last 3 games and needed 2 wins to stay up.
We beat Chelsea 2-0 at home, lost 1-0 at the library and beat a very good Leeds 4-2 in the must win game in a night match at The Lane, Chivers, Conn and 2 from Cyril Knowles, it was like winning the cup that night.

Repeating and reusing what I said in the last OMT - but this is the most important league game in a long time. They will be up for it and it’s down to us to impose ourselves on the game. We’re not out of the woods yet and need to keep the same mentality as the Villa game. We have to earn safety this season

Yeah, this is the acid test. Of course there are massive positives to take from past couple of weeks, but we have beaten a poor Wolves side and a shadow Villa side away. Our record is still rubbish at home, albeit a Brighton performance that began to turn the tide.

Leeds will be a real test wherever they are safe or not. If we get a statement win here then we should be confident of staying up but I will take a guess this will be RDZs most difficult game to date....

Yeah, I don't think Leeds are on the beach at all. They're unbeaten in six league games stretching back to 3rd March (the fixture series where Palace beat us). This will be tough coz they are a good and awkward side.

The performance at Villa from us was outstanding but they were poor. This will be a stiffer test but if we play with the same intensity, we will be okay. We can't influence West Ham's results, we can't beat Chelsea or Everton on Monday night. We can only beat Leeds and we need to beat Leeds so that should be our sole focus.

Will be around Tottenham at 6pm ish on Monday so if anyone fancies a pint and some mutual reassurance, send me a DM.

Great match thread @thfcsteff but not enough custard, Tom Jones or Jeff Goldblum. And we weren't like savage dogs on Sunday, we were like ravenous badgers.

I am listening to my own muse on these mate, and for this one, this is what the muse offered. Tom and Jeff have been good in the past, but these are special circumstances...and we are amidst a proper Italian Job for sure!!!!!

Feel free to add whatever friends of old you think are needed my friend!

I don't think it was a 'shadow' Villa side, there were plenty of very good players out there. I just think they took us lightly, and once they realised we were a different side to that they thought, we wouldn't let them back into the game. I think we have better players in key areas than Leeds despite our injuries, and if we maintain that same level of performance and energy, we'll be exceptionally hard to play against...for Leeds and for anyone TBH.

I was there.
One of my very first matches.
I remember the thunderous sound of those wooden stands. It was the night I realised I was hopelessly hooked. I was 8 years old.

Leeds are the toughest test for RDZ so far, they are on a roll and the players will want to prove they have a future in the PL/Shop window for next season.

I can see this being a draw, I think Maddison could be key here

That's the spirit :) They made a lot of changes, when you make that many the team is not particularly cohesive wherever the players are good on paper or not. I'm not being dismissive of the performance, but that was not the real Aston Villa playing if we are honest albeit a good part of that was down to us and what we did.

Leeds will be a tougher match, Villa barely registered an attempt at goal and did not lay a glove on us. You can rest assured it won't be that comfortable on Monday....

Yeah I was thinking about Maddison being important for this one. Was a bit disappointed to see him not get any minutes vs Villa, which means he will likely only have a small cameo at best for this one.....
