I enjoyed us winning, but I don't enjoy the way we play football either. My view hasn't changed that whether we win a game or not depends on if the opposition take the high value chances we cough up. It was the same last night as it was against Ipswich. We could have been 2 or 3 down in both those games, not due to luck or the ref, but due to how we tactically approach games.

Sure, I'm not going to sit here and tell you we're playing perfect football -- I'd be a lunatic to suggest that. It's a real struggle to watch at times.

My optimism comes from a few places:

- this is how it always happens with Ange; the team looks awful, the players struggle to fully implement the style and it gets exposed because of that. But once it clicks, teams go on ridiculous winning runs

- it's been prolonged and impacted massively by injuries this season.

- for a long time, it's been so clear that this is what we needed to do. A complete reset; create a structure, get a coach who has a plan and will stick around to see it through. Jose and Conte were never in a million years invested in that

- whilst there's still some holes, the squad is actually really damn good now. A lot of that is potential though, so we need to be patient and understand that what we're seeing right now is actually the club building for 2-3 years down the road. In the meantime, a trophy and top 8 finishes would be my expectations, but not the be-all-end-all.

- I reckon a survey of the players would strongly indicate that fully believe in what is being built. I believe if players had been waning, Ange would have gone around the Everton match

My frustration with other fans comes from the place that 18 months ago when Ange was appointed, I think Spurs fans pretty much universally agreed that we needed this and it was going to be bumpy. For some reason, that understanding has turned into "the manager is clueless" even when we win 4-1, because the opposition created a few chances.

I have an incredible amount of patience because I've seen Ange complete this project on multiple occasions. This one is going to take a bit longer, and I'm all in for at least one more season.

Just a continuation of the poor defensive structure that has been common throughout the past two seasons, how regularly we get caught high up the pitch with space in behind the full backs leaving us all at sea when running back towards goal.

If a byproduct of us attacking the way we do is that it leaves us exposed to the same sort of counters from opponents then we should look better prepared to deal with those situations than we do.

Seeing Porro big know that his winger was only able to dribble poor

What was, was the decision to not have a ball carrier ok the pitch. DJed and Kulu move with the ball and city have that as their Achilles heel. That was an angle call

Agree, and why I say our squad is over rated by some. We have a lot of players who are potentially really good, but not there yet and so are even consistent as to be expected. Then our established 'better' players are still of an inconsistent level. But, potentially there are a few players we have who might get to be of top class level - Gray, Bergvall and one or two others but that is of course still unknown. But if we could supplement this young crop with one or two top class talents especially in key areas we really could do well. The future is bright regardless I think.....

Fight is great to have but it's not so impressive when we are are having to fight every game because a lack of decent preparation. We seem to do nothing to mitigate the opposition, we just go out and get bent over and then react. It's usually too late by then. City were never really in any trouble yesterday.

We didn’t invert and couldn’t play a high line as there was no ball retention to get up

...yet had Brennan not had brain freeze in the first minute, and actuallty taken the shot which positionally has seen him score several times this season, we'd have been off to a flyer. Is that a tactical issue?

Too often the players on the ball were looking up and not seeing the right movement.

Form of hiding in my book. He's coming deep and playing safe passes, often horizontal. When you add in that are Cb's seemed to be tasked with being playmakers you then have another player in the mix not progressing the ball forward. His other version is to stand behind the defender too high. He hardly ever receives the ball in the pocket, but when he does he's good from that position.

That’s fine if you are willing to be patient, and you followed him more than more most on this forum. The big question marks for me (beside the constant injuries) are how easy we are to play against, how poorly set up we look and can Ange be successful in the premier league is this is a BIG step up from any level he has managed previously.

I'd add that we seem so flat for large periods of games. The first half last night was the perfect illustration - the players looked flat, leading to the crowd being flat. We did rally for parts of the second half, but I never really felt that City had to get out of second gear to manage the game out.

I agree with @ricky2tricky4city that the eye test will be a key element of whether Ange is still with us by the summer. I think we'll need to see a lot more in games than we did in last night's if he is to start next season, Europa League win or not. He's getting the players back, so he's got three months in which to convince some of those who are unconvinced (like me) - and , much more importantly, the board.

It’s what worries me with Tel
He may… may become that but it’s a gamble
We need that spark, that game changer to help the team step up
I wouldn’t be surprised to see it with someone like Moore or Donley TBH and even someone younger like Lucas
But I also can see what we’re linked with Cunha who will have his pick of clubs

Perhaps Tel was just a stop gap as Soton wouldn't let Dibling go till the summer? We're so overbalanced to left over right, that doesn't work in Tel's favour (whereas Muani who we tried for was right)

I find it unlikely he's a stop gap, it's the most Un Spurs thing to do to spend £10 million on a loan without even a potential to sign long term
