OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur v Brentford FC ***

The tactical game of chess and application. That we couldn’t quite nick it, was frustrating. Either side could have. First half I was really impressed tho. We gave them nothing - I recall just one menacing break but we defended it well - and we had a lot of half chances for Gray, Richi and Spence - none the most potent of attackers. A fresh Richi rather than a tired one and maybe it’s a different story.

That was the frustration with palace. We should have put that game to bed and not had to work as hard. But our attack is weak. Big question is who is being signed and can they hit the ground running? Presumably a left winger.

Its literally like every PL game currently, for the first time in ages I have found myself having a gander and maybe two games all festive period has been much cop to watch.

Thats not to say we should settle and its not a defence of Frank, its just the state of play in this shoite league

Took off a defensive midfielder and replaced with a forward with 10 minutes to go…?

It’s the quality of the creative and attacking players is the problem.

Progress. I’m still struggling to blank some of last season’s horror shows from my mind.
He took Palhinha off (on a yellow) and dropped Gray back into his position from the number 10 position he was playing till then.

is it brick, or the inevitable evolution of the game in a league so awash with money the quality of player is more normalised than ever?

the better prepared players and teams are, the fewer mistakes they make

Exactly. Par for the course. Even city drew 00.

But because there are some with an agenda. Who want to be proved right - it turns into an anti-frank thing. You even have some sorry fans who pay to go, wanting to put the boot in on Frank. You'd think they would have better more postive things to do. Clearly some miserable sods out there.

I think the overall quality is on the floor.

I dont doubt your part about coaching ca canceling out though

Not a bad result. However, I’m sure there were a lot of times we won the second ball around 30 yards out with an easy pass to someone unmarked (who would then have a good chance of playing someone in)…and… we play it backwards.

Must have counted at least 5 times this happened. Is it a tactic? We’ve just won the ball, they are out of position, but no intent to play forward first time. So unusual and seems to be the opposite of what any other team in the history of football would do.
It is definitely a tactic.

Did t watch the game as was at the in laws, but were the away fans singing “boring boring Tottenham”? Saw a tweet mentioning it and thought that isn’t usually a good sign of a manager staying long term!

Edit - just seen it in the atmosphere thread… eesh.

It came through very loud on TV. I thought it was Brentford taunting us, but then it became clear it was coming from our end.

OK then… just from Spurs (Brentford were marginally better).

Our XG was better, so not according to the machines.

I think the problem is, you have nailed your flag to the mast. So any chink and you want to condem Frank. Which is a sorry place to be. Why not go to the theatre? Do something else. Why go to be negative? Just don't get it.
