Yep and no one would have talked of how rubbish Fazio is had that silly ref decision gin our way. He did make a mistake in his positioning but people are flying off the handle

If Poch has'nt got the ability to get better out of the players that he currently has, then something is going to eventually give. If its a choice between (another) complete load of new players coming in or Poch then Poch will be gone. Anyone who thinks otherwise is dreaming.
If course some new signings will be made, but we are'nt going to hugely change the playing staff again. Its an excuse Poch wont be able to use forever.

Much of the the same players who were woeful under Ramos were the same ones who got top 4 with Harry. Sometimes the manager needs to be held accountable.
Really needs to be the case this time.

But in the real world we wont sell all these under achieving players, which would be at a huge loss of what we paid, and then spend loads yet again on a load of new players who are'nt guaranteed to work out either.
It just wont happen.

I thought we did ok yesterday and am surprised by some of the reactions. It was a difficult away European tie on a horrible pitch. We virtually killed the game off before half time, weathered the inevitable post-half-time storm and then switched off a bit early. But it was job done. We played champagne football in the home leg. Sometimes you have to grind others out (like none of the other English teams bar Everton managed to do this week).
I think that was a lot to do with players maturing/settling (e.g. Modric, Bale, BAE and Kaboul, who were all brought in by Comolli very raw).
We know the likes of Lamela, Eriksen, Dier, Townsend, Kane and Mason are going to get a lot better over the next 1-2 years, whoever the manager is. They are raw talent which is being polished.
Rose, Townsend, Naughton, Chadli, Capoue, Lamela and Soldado have come on big strides under Poch this season compared to their previous performances for us. Only Ade and perhaps Bentaleb (but a difficult second season isn't unexpected) you would say have actively regressed.
I don't think there will be big turnover. Paulinho and Chiriches are gone, and Lennon and Dembele don't really fit the system, but they are the 4 candidates for January exits for me. I don't think any of them would need replacing either.
In the summer we'd then need to make decisions about Ade, Verts and Kaboul

Agreed.
It'd just be same old same old. We have some real talented players, but there are a few that don't suit a system and would be better off elsewhere, for their progression, as well as ours.

Redknapp took a bunch of decent, good and potentially world class players and molded them into a group of good and actually world class players who work as a functional unit. The team that he took over may have had some of the same players as the team that qualified for CL, but there were absolutely not the same team. The reason they weren't the same team was because Redknapp was given the time to 1) develop the players that he thought were good enough into better players 2) Get rid of the players he didn't rate 3) Develop his potentially world class players into world class players. Why was he given time? Becuase when he took over Spurs had 2 points from 8 games, and there was not further pressure placed on him other than avoid relegation.
At this moment in Time, Poch is trying to do exactly the same thing as Redknapp was back in 2008, yet, because we finished 6th last year (only 2 places above Redknapp in his first season) he's being put under pressure already to have the team seriously performing.
To me that is unfair at this moment in time. He should absollutely be given a seasons grace.
I just don't believe it is the players. I think we have got talent and believe our performances are below the sum of all our parts. We could probably sell the squad for 200- 300 million at least that's that's not man u Emirates Marketing Project or Chelsea money but its a lot of money .

No but If I had the choice I would say fdb was more qualified. What I did want was an experienced manager, and by that I dont mean guys in their early 40's who have only managed a few seasons.
What is obsession with us (and others) all wanting "the next bright young manager". These guys are usually suave with exotic names and who look good in a suit. We dont want managers like Redknapp or Jol because they dont fit the bill, no matter what they achieve.
I just think that its no coincidence that the greatest times in our recent history was with a man with 30 years experience and who knew the english game inside out and back to front. Im not saying it has to be someone in their 60's with the same criteria but at the same time im tired of our club being a "training course" for inexperienced managers to learn and cut their cloth. Thats not what we need at the moment. The job here is huge and it needs someone capable to get it right.
