OMT *** Spurs vs Bin Dippers ***

It's a great point, absolutely, unless you weigh up why we sacked the last bloke and brought this bloke in!!!!!! In which case it weakens very quickly IMO (no disrespect to Bedford, the game's about opinions and I love the fact we can share them)...

I'm sure I'm as loathe to step down this path again as you are, but they are separate things, we sacked the last bloke because he failed not because the new one was available, sacking the new guy has no relevance on a decision made years ago. We've sacked every manager we've had, they've all failed to some degree.

I loved Poch and fudge me, how I long for the days of his reign right now. But I will say the difference is that everyone had clearly hit a wall including him by the end. It was broken. I don't think that's happened with Jose now, I think it's a different problem. I feel the players still believe in him, maybe because of his reputation, and will still go with his game plan. His game plan just happens to be a bit brick from where I'm standing.

You could make the (valid) argument that Poch deserved time to rebuild but I think, at the end, he was just shattered.

Yes, the two decisions should be kept seperate, as should the current one.

Would be interesting if Poch was still out of work mind

I actually think Aurier was fine on the first goal, as you say he was playing Mane offside and that would have been the case of not for Davies lagging behind everyone.

The goal was much more down to Lloris and the statuesque defender in front of him. [emoji1787]

Sherwood reckoned a fit Kane would have closed down the ball from Henderson.

Thoughts?

This is a fair point, and TBF I need to be quiet on this particular issue I have. But it is hard to stomach when we were told the reason Jose was here is because he wins, has a winning mentality and knows how to win big games.

As mentioned above, I was naughty to even bring it up and I apologize for doing so as it is not really the point. The point becomes how long before we determine whether the flush is busted or still able to spring back to life. And a fairer man then me...well, no, me too, think this is the season we find out. Probably not this game. Though it is hard to for me to make that case to myself...

I'm still fuming this morning and I still can't get my head around that second half. For the sake of 30 seconds or so, we were going in level at half-time. 1-0 down is not the end of the world on the face of it, although conceding at that time is cr*p and of course the comedy of errors that was the defence made it even worse.
But what on earth did Jose say to them at half-time that they came out so weak, spineless, effortless for the second half? The subs didn't help us at all, rumours of a dressing room bust up between Aurier and Hugo might have been a distraction, but if the manager can't stoke up enough effort in the players to at least look like they can be bothered, something is very wrong.
If he wants to play a no-possession defensive set-up but our defence are making mistake after mistake, maybe at some point in the game you have to reconsider.
Add to everything the news that Kane is likely out for a number of weeks and the outlook right now feels pretty depressing.
Someone give me some positivity please because I'm not seeing it.

Your just echoing my earlier posts that we still have too many players who let Poch down here

Cup final to look forward too

I've said it for years, he looks like a passer and maybe he is for a midtable side but he's just not good enough for us. Like many of his teammates, we have a lot of dead food.

Lamela
Winks
Sissoko
Moura
Sanchez
Dier
Toby
Hart

Anyone of them could and probably should go this summer.

Arguably Lloris especially with performances like today.

Bergwijn and Doherty get another season for me.
Doherty is the worst player I've seen in a Spurs shirt in a very long time! Hasn't played a single game were he was more than a 5. looks half hearted, can't tackle, can't pass, can't cross and doesn't look particularly good at heading either. But none of that matters, because he's so pedestrian slow, that by the time he could do any of the previous mentioned actions, the moment to do it is long gone! He's utterly useless!
What a waste of money!

Yet strangely none of the goals came from his side

That performance last night came between me and a decent nights sleep. Dunno why I do this to myself.

The only thing I can think of is that the bust up just knocked everyone out of their stride. We didn’t come out for the second half at all. For two minutes, it was rabbit in the headlights stuff with players doing really stupid things. In one passage of play we had Dier hit a ball to absolutely no one while he was under no pressure, Doherty got rolled like he wasn’t there, Hugo made a meal of a very routine stop and TAA had the freedom of our penalty area to score the rebound. That’s fudging shocking stuff. I can only think that the players’ heads were still in the dressing room.

It is all speculation but if there was a bust up, that’s a worry. It’s good to see players fired up and caring but if it comes to that and it has that effect, that’s a major problem and doesn’t reflect well on anyone.

If there was no bust up, it raises a lot of questions about Jose anyway. What the fudge did he say? What were his instructions because they turned us from hanging on to the Dippers’ coat tails to being well and truly bummed by them. And why on earth would you withdraw Aurier when Doherty was clearly the worst player on the pitch?

So many questions and most of the likely answers raise a massive amount of concern.

That’s a reputation he has earned because across his career it’s been largely true.

I think we need to accept that this club is irretrievably fudged and it doesn’t matter who the manager is because failure is in our DNA.

Sorry mate but i think you're looking to make excuses for the manager. What players are playing as bad as they were under Poch?

Lloris? No
Aurier? No
Dier? Maybe
Alderweireld? No
Reguilon? Wasn't here
Hojberg? Wasn't here
Sissoko? No
Ndombele? No/Wasn't really here
Kane? No
Son? No
Bergwijn? Wasn't here

That's just not a fair reflection of the state of things

Lamela? Yes
Moura? Yes
Dele? Yes
Dier? Definitely
Alderweireld? Definitely (he struggled against Wycombe’s front line)
Davies? Possibly

With some of those that have been here a long time, perhaps they simply aren’t as good we think.

Take Son (who I love) - he is sensational on his day, but he often goes for long stretches without contributing anything at all, last night being the latest example.

We can keep changing the manager, get a bounce for a couple of months, and perhaps then be back to square one with some of these players. There is no getting away from the fact that we conceded three goals last night which were all down to individual errors. In fact, that undersells it - they were down to absolute howlers.

I’m just about giving Mourinho the benefit of the doubt for now, but he is not being helped by the squad.
