Also, just over 5 weeks to go before Sonisphere Oslo.

Metallica, Slayer, Mastodon, Gojira, Ghost confirmed so far.

Gonna be awesome.

For anyone who is a fan of The Coral, Zutons, Miles Kane or most modern Liverpool musicians and bands, the founder of Deltasonic Records was involved in a hit and run at the weekend. He passed away last night. Sad news as he is someone that helped release some of my favourite ever records. RIP

New Coldplay album out to DL

Have you heard it? I haven't but my guess would be that they have reaffirmed their position firmly in the middle of the road?

I will never comprehend how they are popular and successful. Different strokes for different folks I suppose

Decided to dive into Wilco after flirting for a while.

Started with Summerteeth. The immediate standout is Via Chicago which starts with the line 'I dreamt about killing you again last night and it felt all right to me' and contains, for me, simply one of the best guitar hooks I've ever heard: about 11 notes that pop up in a couple of sections of the song. Something about that hook, it speaks to the soul.

How To Fight Loneliness is strong and the melody on We're Just Friends is something else.

I'm about 6 listens in and it's still growing. There's a lot to discover on it.

Btw, check out Jeff Tweedy deconstructing Black Eyed Peas... Some comedy gold right there.

It's bold. It's fresh. It's bang on. And here's me thinking mildly derogatory thoughts like 'it's a band for weepy girls'. This take's it to a whole new level.

Got co-erced into watching them in order to see the opening act whom I really wanted to see - Elbow. They got, like, six or seven songs, then off. Had the arena buzzing and wanting more. But no encore allowed.

Saw Elbow again this week, headlining on their current North American tour. Absolutely awesome.

It was worth the suffering.

Also looking forward to seeing The Mavericks on their summer tour. Couple of dates close to home so hopefully more than once.

And The Sheepdogs. And Sharon Jones and The DAP Kings. Seen them both in the past couple of years. Great live acts, last releases are excellent.

Sebastian Bach keeps releasing solo albums, each one more addictive than the last.

The band consists of long time drummer Bobby Jarzombek (Riot, Halford, Fate's Warning) and guitarist Devin Bronson, with guest stars Duff McKagan (Velvet Revolver, Guns N’ Roses), John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie) and Steve Stevens (Billy Idol).

Some sick riffing going down on this disc.

Video also features girlfriend and model Minnie Gupta.

Craxiness runs in the family.

His younger brother, Zac Bierk, played professional ice hockey. A goalie, the craziest position in sport, stopping frozen rubber discs fired at 100mph by men skating up to 30 mph.

Just to add to your repertoire of irrelevant esoteric general knowledge.

Heard the new Coldplay single on the radio tonight. Good grief surely one of the most awful 'songs' recorded?!
Absolutely dire....

:ross:

My favourite bits;

Gwyneth Paltrow no longer being in your life is like having a 14 inch long celery stick that’s been stuck up your **** for years surgically removed! You should be f***ing delirious! This album should be a series of f***ing honky-tonk piano-driven upbeat bangers with titles like 'Wahoo!' and 'Thank F*** Almighty, Free At Last!' and 'I Don’t Have To Knit My Breakfast No More!', all accompanied to the sound of six-shooters fired into the f***ing ceiling with both hands!

And so the album wends on - imagine Christ, instead of having to carry the f***ing cross to f***ing Calvary having to carry a giant, ten foot long flaccid penis instead - that’s how listening to this f***ing album feels by this stage!

Just enjoying Ramones Rocket to Russia again…what a great record! What a great band! So happy I saw them a few times...

Wilco are brilliant. Sky Blue Sky is probably my favourite but Summerteeth is a superb album, also the first Wilco album I bought.

I can't believe how big Biffy Clyro is in your end of the earth.

I mean, I can, because I like them. A lot. But down here, they are nothing.

I am watching their Reading Fest set, huge crowd, big set.

They played a Summer festival here and they were the second band on the main stage. And I mean the second band to play. They were on as I was walking in, and I got there early (mainly to see them but still, I wasn't going to get there that early).

They were good, had a small but growing crowd watching them, but most people had no idea who they were.

They're coming back in a few months, and playing small venues. My local gig venue hold 2,200 and you get so close you can sniff them. I'm hoping I can see them but I might be out of town.

One week to go till their new album is out
