What about getting a DoF in above Redknapp - to manage transfers with a longer term view whilst Redknapp gets on with coaching?

It's the way Pompey and Southampton found to counterbalance some of his weaknesses after all, and he's hardly in a stong position to argue back now.

Not sure how you have consistency with a pensioner with 1 year left of his contract, who the owner doesn't trust in the transfer market, and who is only still here because his exit strategy just completely backfired. It's an untenable poisition that will get exponentially worse the longer it's left after Fulham.

Would you not be prepared to give him one more season if we make CL next month?

Would like to have it along the lines of what ManUre have and somewhat similar to as we have now:

- a chairman or director negotiating the deals
- manager with overall responsibility of chosing signings and managing the team
- reserve team and academy managers
- scouting system which recommends senior and youth players to the managers

Agree. THats why the day after Fulham at home Levy and Harry need to get together to agree a sensible exit plan. Harry wont resign because he wants the pay-off, Levy wont sack him because of cost....need to agree a middle ground so that we can move on

I thinks that's ageist and patronising. I'm sure SAF would agree with me. It sounds as if you want shot of Harry because he only has a year on his contract-why not extend his contract then? That will ensure continuity. But even if we choose not to extend his contract there's a year's more continuity and succession planning than if we just sacked him now. Look at the way Utd imploded when their future was unclear after SAF's retirement announcement. Not comparing Harry with SAF but reinforcing the need to learn the lessons of recent history.

i think he has shown that he has taken us as far as he can these past few months, our lack of rotation/fitness recurring injuries are all cause for concern to me as is the tactical naivety. Should we get CL then it may be the best time for us to appoint a new manager

better chuck in a disclaimer for the pro phalanx : it would be harsh on Harry to let him go having qualified for the CL and by no means has his time here been a disaster - i just think the time is right to look for a replacement for the long term benefit of the club

This. We should have made the change last summer when Ancelotti was keen and available. We always knew court cases and/or England would ruin this season for us.

I think Redknapp has been our Ranieri and now we're primed for our Mourinho.

If I could change the boldened word to "should have suspected" then I'd say you're probably not wrong, but it's easier with hindsight I guess.

Onwards and upwards, we still have nine points to play for.

This isn't about individuals, but about structure.

How do you think we should replace Redknapp?

a) Directly with an old-fashioned manager - an Ancelotti, Capello, van Gaal. Someone who will have full responsibility for footballing affairs, reporting directly to Levy.

b) With a DoF running transfers and the behind the scenes footballing business and a first team coach. Basically replicating the model we had with Jol - an experienced transfer guru with profile (someone like Txiki Begiristain), then a young up-and-coming but unproven coach (a Martinez, Rodgers or AVB).

Personally, although I'm a big fan of DoFs, I think it's our first team management that needs improvement now, not the wider club (unlike in 2004). Therefore my preference is for a shorter-term big name manager with winning mentality. I can see both sides though.

fudge me pink Gutterboy, all you EVER bore on about, is Harry this and Harry that???

Christ almighty, ever thought of changing the record?

Alex Ferguson is 6 years older than Harry redknapp

in the last 6 years he's won the league 4 times, the european cup and a couple of league cups

Six more years of Harry and half of those titles and we would all be tossing ourselves blind

Gutterboy, you convict yourself with almost every post. Wouldn't it be better for all of us if you retired instead?

And deprive me of my humour???!!!

Yes, our dear Gutterboy:

1. Apparently Harry was going to get banged up in jail,
2. Apparently Harry was a shoe-in for the England managers job

No apparentlys about the fact - FACT - that Harry is one of Tottenham's most successful managers.

What a track record you have son - outstanding wannabe journalist on our hands here =D>

Remember the "Reddie's going down thread" on the old board? :ross:

Please stop starting ten billion threads on the same topic. This thread is here to stop the board being over run with threads on Harry's future. Speculation on the possible structure post Harry falls into the same category.

Who could forget it??

To be honest, I just find 'Gutter Boy' more and more embarrassing. The worse thing to be in life, is predictable - and yet that's what 'Gutter Boy' has become, predicable. Desperately wanting to get something, anything right - yet consistently failing, miserably at that. And when Harry was cleared of all charges, 'Gutter Boy' disappeared for a few weeks with his tail between his legs :ross:

'Gutter Boy', I'd LOVED - paid money in fact - to have seen your face when the news broke last night of the FA approaching Roy Hodgson. I bet it was an absolute picture :) Harry's going nowhere fella - get over it, and get used to it. He's gonna be our manager for years and, considering he's one of the most successful in our history, I'm VERY VERY happy about that.

I just cannot wait for his next quote - in the words of the Messiah; "triffic" \o/
