Next Manager?

Haha, this is just ridiculous.

With Rogers saying no - I'm putting my money on Ten Hag. I think we'll go for him.

The thing which gets me more comfortable that Ajax's performances are about him rather than about Ajax are simply that it looks like they'll win the league for 3 successive seasons, having not win it for a few years before him. Plus they appointed a non-Ajax person, which in itself is an achievement, and his experience at Bayern under Pep is helpful too, and he won 50% of his games for Utrecht.

It would be a less risky appointment that when we hired Poch, but still one which makes me a bit nervous. Bringing in a DoF alongside would make it a more reassuring appointment but the priority is that this doesnt drag on well beyond the end of season

Yep this is sad as I think nagelsmann and rodgers would have done really awesome jobs for us, but we must now go all out for ten hag and also must appoint ragnick or campos as sporting director.

Oh yeah? Tell us some more...what's his football style like and how does he compare to Poch and the other main targets we are said to be looking at (Nagalsmann, Rodgers, ETH and Potter)?

I'd be interested in what @Danishfurniturelover thinks. He watches a fair bit of German football. I've watched a fair bit of Wolfsburg these last two seasons, they play nice football.

More expensive yes.
Last year, we had Jose as coach, like this year.

The year before they finished 1 point ahead of us as we played in CL, whilst the had an EL campaign which they ultimately won.

They have often had more expensive defenders than us but that didn't stop them sacking Lampard because they were floundering below even us (and it's not like we were great ourselves).
You cannot ignore the quality of coaching an how that has had an effect in pushing Chelsea upwards in the last few months

My point is you can't use the state of Tottenham's defence to judge our ex manager in comparison with Chelsea. One key reason is that Chelsea has better defenders than us and for good reason they spent more and attracted better talent.

Also the continuous reference to a manager that has left ... is interesting.

Glasner is an excellent coach and has done a great job at Wolfsburg

No idea what he's like but the sort of profile I could see Levy going for:
- achieved success over several season at a smaller club
- then moved to a top half team in a major league and has got them into CL spots

On that basis, you could bracket him with Nagelsmann, or certainly closer to Nagelsman/Rodgers, than Potter, Parker etc

He's a smart manager who improves players. Both should be essential criteria. I think that Potter is a decent coach and is worth considering, he just wouldn't be at the top of my list. I think that it is too soon for Parker.

The point is that Chelsea look better because of coaching the players are receiving, regardless of how expensive their defence is compared to ours. The coaching they have received is what has pushed them back up the table. Tuchel hasn't brought in any new players. Oh and if we are talking about expenses, Chelsea's forward line is far more expensive than ours: would you swap or forwards for theirs? I doubt you would, so the cost in this instance is a red herring.

Of course our last coach will be brought up because of he seemingly lacked the ability to coach that he used to have and the body of evidence goes back years before he joined us.
I for one, wonder if we'd got in Tuchel when they did whether we'd be in a better position to Chelsea's....

Me neither for Parker. I also think that levy will want someone who has managed a team who is a bit bigger or higher up in the league and ideally a major league (rightly or wrongly). I think Potter would need to go to a Villa, Saudi Sportswashing Machine etc first, or perhaps get Brighton up there.

Apparently he's on the Leipzig shortlist alongside Marsch from Salzburg. A third name is either Ten Hag or former Nagelsmann assistant Materazzo, now in charge of Stuttgart, depending on which rumour one believes.

i saw marsch linked with us too. I dont see levy appointing someone who hasnt managed in a major league or a big team though
