Very important that the manager can handle the press without a meltdown, and I don't recall Sam getting out of shape with them. Maybe another reason for Harry, seeing as they're all his mates.
 
Bruce has done alright with limited players before, he's a pragmatist, I don't hate the idea.

Mick McCarthy would be a better bet though imo, maybe even Pardew.

I like the idea

My mate works at West Ham and said he was well and away the most advanced manager in terms of accepting new technologies into the game etc and far from the Relic people think. I always felt the brand of football Bolton played was strong but far from route one.

In terms of his tasks he has done all he has been asked as a manager:

Bolton and West Ham - Take up - Keep Up

Sunderland - Take Over - Keep up
 
Allardyce was also one of the early managers adopting computer systems for analysis of performances (e.g. Prozone). He gave an interesting interview about how the number of high intensity sprints had increased in the game during his time at Bolton. This was ten years ago. He certainly isn't the old relic he is portrayed as.
 
And I watched Sunderland v Arsenal in FA Cup and Sunderland played some lovely stuff, had Arsenal on toast until Ramsey came on
