Fair enough, no problem with that sort of argument. The only thing I’d counter with is: the CV of the last 3 managers (yes including Nuno) was pretty good. Surely we’ve learnt it means nothing? What is important is the fit. And, in my opinion, Ange is a great fit (as was Slot)
Potter would also be a great fit and has shown he can do it at PL level

Genuinely I’m not anti Ange
He could be bloody amazing. I really don’t know
Some people in the game whose opinions I rate, really like him and that has validity
People can talk about leagues and status but look at where fergie came from.
The Scottish league is toilet now, but that’s not his fault

This where the ‘There’s no rush’ argument falls down. There will be a lot of work already going on in preparation for next season at most clubs.
Not if yout not obsessed with what other clubs are doing it's not.

After 4 years of drastically getting it wrong the most important thing to get right undoubtedly is the managers appointment, if we get that right and all people have to moan about is the time it took I can deal with that trade off.

It's going to take more than one season to unpick the past and rebuild for the future.

That's football fandom these days, especially with social media.

Nothing as ambitious as hiring the guy you had to sack last time…
‘Chose to sack’ (a decision that has since proven to be a poor one).

As I’ve already said though I suspect we did approach him and he said ‘no thanks’. Same as Nagelsmann. The alternative (that we’re not interested in managers like them but are interested in a manager like Postecoglou) just doesn’t seem believable.

Sub note, if it take this time and we get it wrong I will not be happy hahaha.

But it doesn't take a scientist to realise and work out that people are already sharpening their knives on the next boss regardless, can see it a mile off

100% but that's Spurs now and how our managers get treated in the media knowing Levy will get rid if Top 4 isn't on track.

I would be more than happy finishing 5-8th if we get the new bloke in, make big changes to the squad that will take time to embed along with a positive attacking style.

Depending on who we get in and what we do in the market, that's going to be our level for a few seasons, top 4 feels fudging way off, but get the right guy in and get the vibe around the club back to the positive days Poch created, then anything can happen, like Saudi Sportswashing Machine just saw.

Exactly, we have so much work to do you can't pack it off and have it sorted in one summer, next season is going to be the basis of a rebuild, 4 years late and further down the league than we would have been then but that's the reality of where we are. We have about a dozen players to shift and some creative ways needed to fill those areas to back up the more established stars. That's the reality for me and as I've said, it needs the right guy.

Why? genuine question. You think the gardening leave thing is an issue? I don't think Levy would be crazy enough to leave Mason in or even worse bring in another interim coach.

It's just speculation, obviously, because I literally know nothing. But Levy has had a thing for big name coaches lately, and the way this has dragged out with us seemingly not keen on a number of higly regarded managers, leaves me thinking he might be going all in on probably the biggest name available. Levy being Levy, might just keep moving those goalposts in conversations with Nagelsmann's entourage - saving money, but losing time, having to appoint a sort of interim manager in the meantime.

All of the above is probably just the ramblings of an ingorant fan, but at the same time I would not be surprised to see it pan out like that.

Just can't see Postecoglou cutting the mustard at Spurs. I feel completely underwhelmed by him - I'd rather Rodgers.

But, to be honest, every candidate leaves me feeling underwhelmed because I don't know if any manager can succeed here if success is top 4 and a cup in any given season. And if that's the case, you have to start looking at the man at the top. For me, Conte was his last roll of the dice - I've completely lost confidence in Levy.

Similar but the more I go into a little YouTube hole, more I like him...

fudge it, lets get some fudging VIBES going, seems a determined bloke, not scared of the challenge, could be a massive fudging disaster but whatever, it's all fun and games.

Levy has at least realised we have to find someone who can overachieve within the constraints enic put on the club, whilst at the same time that appointment being willing to work under such constraints and will therefore stick around medium to long term.

Once you understand the above is what has happened everything else makes sense.

We were looking at the likes of Kompany, Alonso, RDZ, Slot etc and they have all said no or were not gettable. Now its onto Ange, who it is hoped is of similar ilk.

Your last statement is what's needed, someone who has some boll0x and more than one system or outlook and doesn't cry about it. And someone who defends his club and creates a siege mentality to what he is trying to achieve. That and some decent football at times and I will take next season as a building block and to push on
