watching the NBC build up to the "EPL", (i'm an ex-pat living stateside btw) and its fairly condescending coverage at the moment on their guide to the clubs, they're big on getting people to pick their teams by what colours (or colors) you like, most people who watch the game here are actually fairly clued up so not sure NBC have their right market. NBC are also saying they will air every single game live which is possible as NBC have a lot of channels on cable. As usual, this'll be big on the west and east coast, people in arkansas will be watching college sports.

I don't think anyone is assuming it reflects the ratio of club supporters in the US. Merely which team are currently being picked the most in the NBC Pick a Side marketing, which is promoting the Premier League (not La Liga...).
