Schalke have confirmed that midfielder Nabil Bentaleb will train with them whilst they wait for his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to go through
Christian Heidel, the Sporting Director has confirmed that Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb will train with the club this afternoon ahead of his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.
Bentaleb, 21, has been frozen out of the first team under
Mauricio Pochettino and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga side for some time now.
Speaking at a press conference before the new German season starts Heidel confirmed that Bentaleb would train with them this afternoon and all they needed was for the transfer documents to be ratified.
"Nabil Bentaleb completed a superb medical check here last Thursday then he returned to Tottenham.
"We have exchanged documents with Spurs and he will probably participate in training this afternoon.
"Nabil is 100% fit but we need to be patient to give him time to integrate."
The transfer is expected to be a loan with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
During the conference Heidel also spoke about
Benjamin Stambouli and Son Heung-min, two players who have also been linked with the club.
Heidel said that Stambouli would also be arriving, pointing out how he roomed with Bentaleb when he was at Spurs but that they weren't interested in Son.
"Stambouli just has to have a medical and wait for the results but we are positive that everything will work out.
"Our newbies already know each well from sharing a room at Tottenham.
"Son Heung-min is an outstanding footballer, we know him well from his time with HSV and
Leverkusen but he has nothing to do with Schalke."
