Moussa Sissoko

I have been one of Sissoko's biggest critics but thought he had his best game for Spurs so far on Saturday. Just seemed to be thinking and passing more quickly, particularly in the first half and is clearly developing a good understanding with Aurier.

Initially against West Ham he seemed to be moving to the right too much, as he is often prone to do, and seemed to be getting in the way of Aurier's runs. But from about 15 minutes in was playing more centrally and his game improved significantly. If he can keep this up perhaps we will see why Poch was so keen to sign him.

I thought he was good for us on Saturday, have to give credit when it is due, I wonder if he can improve much to become good for us because the gulf seems too far, but Saturday was a good start

I just watched MotD2 and saw Knockaert playing for Brighton... I immediately thought he looked a really good player, his style of running, his passing, his awareness, the reverse pass... this is based on 15 seconds of coverage.

I guess this helps to explain why I really dislike the style of play from Sissoko. I don't hate the man, I've never met him, he might be a really cool guy.

But for me football is about helping your team by playing a neat pass into space for them to run onto... being aware and playing the correct, simple pass.

I remember players used to love Carrick and Modric because you could play a poor pass to them, a hospital ball at their throat, and they would somehow take it down, take it away from the opposition player, get space, turn, look up, and play a neat pass right into the stride of the receiver.

I've heard them referred to as "ball cleaners" but that makes me think of porn.

Sissoko has a totally different skillset, he is all about stamina, charging up and down getting stuck in, charging back, charging up, charging back, very little style, not playing cute passes or clever passes or showcasing skill, just charging around and shinning it and chasing it and shinning it... that is what I really dislike.

Not the player; the style of player.

It's nice to see him as a core squad member, rather than a guy to stick on for 8 mins cos he cost a load.

Would love to see a Sissoko goal to properly show that see has come of age in the First XI...

I think Aurier is helping him and vice versa as they seem to balance each other well

This is where Poch makes excellent decisions. Not only does get a quality right wing-back, he gives Sissoko a boost by bringing a mate in who helps feed his confidence. Which needs feeding. A superb job by both Poch and Sissioko to rebuild his confidence; I think come Xmas he is going to be a very, VERY important squad member.

And he'll be a bargain!

He played some really nice one-touch passes, one of which assisted Kane's goal. I notice that when the team is playing free-flowing football he seems much more at ease, never slows the game down, and always picks a good, if not great, pass. When we're passing the ball around trying to open up a defense, he's more tentative and will typically make the short safe pass to someone who is more adept at splitting a defense. Nothing wrong with that. Not many players in our squad have that ability.
