Moussa Sissoko

I must have seen a different game tonight, he didn't do anything exceptional but to single him out, i can't see it, especially as the game went on.
2nd half, kept it simple, at least it wasn't bouncing straight off him!..but made the passes. The rest of the team weren't great for the majority of the game, despite the possession.

He's no good, we just need to sell him in the summer. I think him and N'Koudou will be gone.

Also, I don't think Sissoko was our worst player tonight. The normally reliable Ben Davies has a mare against his old team and Son was terrible until he scored!

To those asking ^

Davies and Son were far worse. Don't think Davies could stop anyone down the wing, and Son was miscontrolling and making poor passes. Sissoko wasn't amazing, but got into the game more and more. This was a game where they kept it tight, the openings came as they tired. Sissoko only looks good when he can power into space, and there wasn't any. People are so quick to write our players off. I agree he should be sold - as he isn't better than the first team who have us in 2nd place - a high standard. But that doesn't mean Sissoko can't play a part for us now. We'll need him as a sub at the very least, and if he plays well, we might be able to punt him on for a decent amount. Get behind him.

Sissoko grew into the game, as @SpurMeUp indicated - a consequence of Swansea tiring. He was certainly better overall than Davies and Son were, in my estimation - wasn't great, but sometimes looked like the only one apart from Eriksen who could provide a bit of forward momentum in that second half.

It was almost like a rugby game, where you needed to drive into their line, commit three of their players, lay it off and quickly feed the ball into the space created. I hope he's sold for mega bucks too, but he's not as bad as he's shown. We always have one target of venom. If we'd lost he would be it.

If Sissoko had conviction in front of goal he would actually be a decent player, but his lack of shooting ability and confidence around the box means he's isn't good enough. I don't know if he'll have time to find confidence playing for us. I'm just happy if he contributes, plays ok, and hopefully we can cash out. Anything else is a bonus.

If he could develop his shooting, well then he would be a very good player imo. But at 27 it might be too late. He actually reminded me of Bale aged 18/19. Powerful and unrefined.

Yeah, it might be too late for a change to his technique. He would have to unlearn what he has been doing for his entire footballing life. Nothing is impossible I suppose. He could just switch to a side foot technique and forget about trying to put his laces on it.

I suppose Bale always had a decent shot on him. It got better and better, but he was already proficient striking a ball at 18. Sissoko at 27 looks terrified in front of goal, maybe because he knows he's lacking technique. There has to be a psychological element to it though! He's trained as a pro footballer for x years, how can you not practice shooting? All that power, used properly, he could have a strong shot.

I thought he was slightly better than usual. He actually started the second half rather well, put in a good tackle and made a couple of positive runs on the ball. But you just don't see him providing us with anything that will help us break the deadlock when we play against a settled defence just about all the time. He doesn't have any creativity on the ball, and he doesn't have goals in him. Son had a worse game, but you'd still rather keep him on the pitch because he can do what he did in the end and score the winning goal.

Thought he was better tonight. Not great but better.

I see what Poch has done with Dembele, and though different sort of players I wonder if Poch thinks he can "fix" Sissoko.

Has it escaped everyone's notice that the reason he improved towards the end of the first half is that those around him went out of their way to avoid giving him the ball?

He was better because he wasn't trapping it out for a goal kick, but only because he wasn't getting the ball.

In the 2nd half, he looked like a player who could perform the Dembele role a bit, getting it central, going past a player then releasing it. IMO, that kinda role suits his skill-set more but it's just not gonna work for him here. I don't think he will get many more starts before he is sold.

I really just hope it's confidence/psychological. He's gone from the main man in the car crash that was Saudi Sportswashing Machine last season to a second string player surrounded by others who probably dingdong all over him on the training pitch.

I hope that Poch can mould him over the summer into Lamela Mk2, but I fear that it's pretty unlikely. But he MUST have seen the raw ingredients in there somewhere.

Did look like players were thinking twice about passing to him.

This. 100%. I think he will reignite elsewhere, but not good enough for us and confidence has certainly gone. credit to him for hanging in!

He's never going to be a prolific finisher, it's too late in his career. Unless Poch has the worlds best hypnotherapists, psychologists and intensive trainers ready to pull him apart. If we had to play him week in and out - Poch would probably get more out of him. Unless he can develop rapidly, he's ultimately not quite good enough. There are still 10 odd games to play, he could have a say in that. Lets hope he hasn't written himself off in the face of the negativity.

I thought he was our worse player on the pitch today closely followed by Davies
Deary me, I think overall he was average as was at best most of the team and he certainly wasn't the worst player on the pitch. If anyone else had mirrored his performance last night, they wouldn't of been called out - Just jumping on the bandwagon, unless he had scored or got a load of assists he was going to be got at on here by some which is a shame....

Son was the only other player on the pitch trapping a ball 20 yards but he ended up scoring.

Average player and always has been, he needs confidence that's for sure. Always baffled me why we offered them 30m and not 30m for Zaha who is younger and more dynamic.
