Modric - No Longer A Spurs Player

I thought by repeating could as I did it insinuated that I know it COULD not WOULD and I repeat......why take that risk?!?!

What risk are we talking about exactly?

The one where the player sulks so badly we just bench him as if he doesnt exist and he potentially ruins his own career? (not likely, imo) AVB has shown he has no issue pushing someone out of the team/squad.

Or the one where once he cant go anywhere he gets on with his job - which is being a top player for us - without any issue. Being as its exactly what happened last year Im guessing its more likely.

he was one of the premierships top performers last season, statistically speaking anyway - passing, chance creation etc - enough to entice interest from the worlds biggest club anyway

The risk of the former and we pay him a years salary til next summer then accept a much lower offer for him maybe?

Decent. High? That's debatable. Integral yes but if you look at his general body language and demeanour it's not great either.

sorry Roy but that is utter nonsense imo - on the pitch he was nothing short of professional and had it not been for the very public fact that he was wanting a move away id wager no one would have been commenting on his demeanor or body language as a negative

see my reply earlier - a year of him not playing would be disastrous as most likely the real top clubs would not be interested in a player who has sat the year on the benches and would he be willing to move to a club on the next rung ? then there is also the fact that he would still have three years left on his deal so we could make him stay again (and again and again) and pretty much ruin his career should he decide to go down that route

But we did know therefore he was scrutinised more. At least by me. My opinion billy mate that's all.

How much of a risk is there that will actually happen? Really?

Not much IMO. As Billy points out - Modric is the one to suffer in that scenario. And if wages is going to be the basis of your concern then you really are clutching at straws.

Yeah 9 minutes of footage is enough to prove your point. Christ nayim!!

9 minutes, showing every performance through the season, showing him doing what he does best - as you say "integral" but certainly in a professional and honest manner.

I see nothing to suggest a poor attitude, demeanor or bad body language.

Shouting down a youtube video is one thing, shouting down one that does a pretty comprehensive job of showing his displays seems a bit silly to me though

Nayim mate it's 9 minutes!! 9 minutes of GOOD stuff from him out of how many he actually played??? It's pointless as is debating with you if you think it proves any point!!

It shows how he performed week to week. Or are you going to suggest these 9 minutes are the only nine minutes he wasnt moodily kicking his heals and sulking all season?

Had he not been linked with a move and performed exactly the same all season I wager you wouldnt be bemoaning his demeanor and body language, I think you are seeing something that simply wasnt there

If he hadn't demanded a move this thread wouldn't exist.

If you think 9 minutes of YouTube footage is enough to prove one point or another then....just wow!

It is intended to show whatever the maker of the video wants to but proves nothing whatsoever.

It highlights Modrics performance in every game last season. Of course it isnt exhaustive but it pretty comprehensive wouldnt you agree?

How many of those games did he not look the part?

He demanded a move last year. He didnt get it. He finished the season arguably our best player.

Now you suggest we should sell him below value because he *could* be a sour puss next season (so?!) and his body language last year was poor.

Sorry mate, thats just not washing at all for me

The video may not show it but you obviously didn't watch much of us last year. He was quality and never sulked. His reaction to scoring against Liverpool at the Lane and Bolton away showed he's a pro and will get on with it (at opposite ends of the season).

I watched every minute of every game last season. We disagree. Move on.

It's not even close to being conclusive. It's a 9 minute clip made by someone who obviously loves Modric. Seriously mate thought better of you.

As I did you, entirely missing the point Ive tried to make. You have Youtube rage!

Lets take your own advice to tommy and accept a difference of opinion.

It's not that I'm missing your point. However, for every YouTube vid of Modric playing well, there's another of him looking poor. It's not evidence of anything at all.

Can't agree he looked like our best player either.

I don't like the fella obviously. I can, however, make a judgement on facts rather than emotion (not saying you can't btw) but he wasn't our best player last season just to disagree with you on that too!
