Foden is overcoached, he'd be like Palmer if he'd have moved to Chelsea.
Foden is one of the best players in the premier league.
He did really well for city playing de Bruynes role last seasonI've always rated Foden since I saw kid in England U17, he's not yet turned into the player I thought he would be, I don't think he's been allowed the freedom to play his game in his preferred position, to my mind he's never a wide player, it's a complete waste playing him there.
He was played out of position. He might be but why he felt the need to go into a big Tournament and just run around chewing gum is beyond me.
And maybe it’s a me thing as I don’t doubt that he tries his best. I just don’t understand why players need to chew gum. And that he wasn’t at his best frustrated me more than if he had been an average player. He just came across as complacent.
There was some discussion recently mentioning how we all know how Pep drills his players to play his way and it was argued that because Foden has never played under anyone else and came through as a kid playing purely under Pep, had no loans etc.. that when he plays for England it's extremely difficult for him to adapt compared to other players who might have grown up saying under multiple managers, had several clubs, loans etc. and find it easier. It might all be gonads but it was an interesting listen. He was played out of position.

Yeah I knowThat's his position, he only got the chance because of the injury and rarely plays there for England.
Yeah I know
But he showed what he can do
Fodens class, people are just talking jive. Southgate and his tinkering killed any chance of seeing the best of him. The lads tremendous
Yeah, you don't get voted player of the season if you are crap. Peoples expectations are down to them.
Apparently the chewing gum thing is a slow release energy thing.Yes I am wrong in thinking that chewing gum and playing on a football pitch ought to be mutually exclusive. Especially when representing your country or paid a LOT to live a dream profession for your club.

I'm not sure people realise just how bad Southgate was. He wasn't qualified at all to work with elite talent.
The other great comment above is how these midfield maestros now get pushed into the wider channels because of how the game has evolved. I still say that when referees start applying the laws of the game on the professional fouls / dark arts we might see a return into the centre of guys like De Bruyne, Foden, Grealish etc.
Wasn't involved much. Supply to him was non-exsistent to be fair. How did he get on today?
