Yep. Fit enough for the couch in his living room.Reckon he'll be fit for the world cup?
4 mill?? Bargain for Hull.
I still rate him easily in the top 20 CBs in the league.
He certainly should have been playing for England ahead of the ****e like Cahill, Jagielka, Smalling and Jones.
I wouldn't neccessarily want him as a 1st choice power CB next season, but we won't find a better experienced back-up either.
The club needs a bit of heart at the moment too, which only he and Sandro seem to provide.
I would be gutted if we sold Dawson, even if he comes on now and again for the final 15 to shore up a winning defense, he's worth keeping around. That plus cup starts, and a few in the league should keep him happy. Don't sell him, Pochy.
Yes but not bad for us either. Iirc we paid £4m for him and Reid too so money back? Testimonial?
To be honest I was on AVBs side when he thought was time to get rid and I was proven wrong then and I dont think much has changed from then until now. His leadership is something we dont have in abundance,Im sure hes great to have in the dressing room and all that aside he was our best centre back last season and £4million for an Englishman with a good few years left in him is nowhere near enough IMO...
Anyone who would sell Dawson doesnt understand a basic fundamental of building a football team or squad. Ironically this has been the case with several of our previous managers and Directors of Football.
Every great football team has a mix of technique, pace, flair, determination, leadership; whilst it sounds a bit old school/1970s/Fat Sam every good team needs it grit and courage. To pick a team of technically beautiful players and no balance is totally counter productive. Whilst Championship Manager and FIFA might suggest otherwise, name me a great team that hasnt had a few 'cloggers' in the team....every United title winning team had an O'Shea, Phil Neville, Wes Brown, Cleverley, Wellbeck etc - even L'**** had a Grimandi, Parlour or Keown.
Dawson is not only our captain, he is also our longest serving player and I maintain that he is perfectly capable of doing us a decent job against at least 12 other PL teams. Whilst I would agree that I **** myself when he is up against a Suarez or Aguero he'd have been the first name on the teamsheet for many games we'll play next season. Is he as consistent as he was 4 years ago? No, he isn't but are we better for having him as part of the squad? Absolutely.
