Mens fashion...

Raincoats and macs. Anybody got recommendations?

Primarily business attire - spring and autumn months.

Don't want to splurge on Aquascutum-end of the price range.

Got three from John Lewis to try.

This one is definitely not as tailored for fit as the photo makes out. Which is a shame.

Guys I've got a wedding to go to next week, thinking about a grey suit but have no idea what I'm really looking for with suits. Don't mind spending a few hundred quid for a nice one, although I'm currently losing weight (only about 13 stone but want to get to around 12) so I don't want to get something that won't fit in a couple months time.

also I'm in the Midlands so can't make it to any London shops. Birmingham is an option but quite a way away, would prefer it if there is a national chain that would be more local (notts, leicester)

Any suggestions on style and shirt combinations, as well as recommended shops would be most helpful

Not sure how much it would cost at Bicester but a Burberry trenchcoat is what you want. Possibly the most timeless jacket going. I am determined that I must own one soon, will be a worthy purchase.

Last time I checked they were about 400. Great jackets. I have a mac from paul smith btw, absolutely love it. Very lightweight and has a detachable woolen inner lining which is useful for the day to day weather changes.

Actually just checked and they are around £1,000 though can probably pick them up for a lot less at Bicester and sales etc.

from 12 - 13 stone shouldn't really affect your waist or chest size much I wouldn't have thought. Guessing your're probably 32"/34" waist (jeans, you'll go up a size in trousers) and 40" chest? Going down to 12 stone won't affect you much on the sizing as for the jacket it's about your chest not your stomach, so unless you have moobs, you won't change size, and unless you wear your trousers like Simon Cowell, you probably won't change waist size either.

Main thing to decide is whether you like a slim/tailored look or something looser. Same goes for the shirt, personally I like tailored fits. If you want to set a suit off, you need a pocket square/hankie. If this is going to be used all times of the year, be careful about buying a heavy wool winter suit as it'll make you cook in the summer ;) (it's that time of year, they're all out now).

Marks & Spencer if you want a national retailer. St.Michaels is much better quality that Next etc. and if you go to a big outlet you'll easily find something you like.

Lol! Awful. I once watched my art teacher give one of the school bad boys an actual shoeing with his Jesus sandle. Just standing there in his grey sock, beating the poor boy repeatedly with fashions cruelest ever joke. The lad never recovered, his bullying rep was finished after that.
