Toby had come back from a fairly long injury in late 2016/early 2017 reportedly a little 'Tubby'. Poch told him to lose a few pounds so it's said. Toby did not take kindly to that, at which point the two were at loggerheads. Yes. He then wanted to move him on, and if you believed the rumour (note the previous is fairly well established, this next bit isn't) Poch wanted to go and get Van Dijk given we'd looked at him in 2015 when he was at Celtic and actually gone for Toby instead! They patched it up of course, but I'm not sure it was ever quite as smooth...side note, I love love love Poch and the whole era, however I think the book he put out in late 2017 was a huge mistake. I think he ruffled a couple of feathers in and out of the dressing room with that, and understand why that would be.
