Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

And even Cit€h’s wage bill is dwarfed by the Spanish (government sponsored) giants.

Slightly older numbers there, past two years Barcelona is all out on their own .. significantly higher wage bill than Real (as insane as that seems)

It also shows how lopsided the bundesliga is, the equivalent of Man U being the biggest team in the league, followed by West Ham.

Hmmm, this doesn’t sound too great and goes against what he’s been saying recently about being ‘sooooo happy with the squad’. Not open rebellion, but a little dissent, which is unusual for Poch.

"I am so happy to try to help the project of the club," Pochettino told a news conference before the visit of Saudi Sportswashing Machine. "But, of course, my ideas are not always the same as the club's ideas, or the chairman's ideas.

"I wanted to strengthen the squad but, if we cannot sign anyone, I need to stick with the pressure of the club.

"I am disappointed because we are in a very good position and maybe, with a little more help, we could not have an excuse not to be a real contender. But we are in a very good position and we will fight until the end to be as high as we can."

Yeah I’ve just had it chucked at me to go against my argument that he’s on board with the situation and might be the one knocking back the potential signings!

I was going to say, this followed a question on Batshuayi which gives a bit more context.

"I think there is nothing to say about that rumour, only that I think we were open to add some players and quality to help us achieve in three months to be in competition and achieve what we want, but we can’t add that quality.

It’s not because I wanted, it’s because we can’t add more quality. I was so open but for different reasons we cannot deliver what we wanted."

I am sure Steff was talking about Neil Mcnab.

Not a bad player to be honest and was only 16/17 when he played his first game for us, his problem was that he was competing with Hoddle and Hazard for the M/F place.

You are correct and more forgiving. Probably more mature TBH. I always place him alongside Jones, although in fairness Jones scored a few important goals for us.

Interesting Poch says Janssen is now back in the list and can rejoin the first team squad?!

Clear that Poch's English is not quite good enough to get his points across clearly - so he sounds like he is contradicting himself and rambling on and by the end of 5 minutes you can't remember what he started with

In a nutshell, he only wants top quality

So, we could keep buying four or five £20m punts, who turn out to be meh... or we can wait and buy an £80m star. In the past, I have advocated this approach. We can fill gaps with academy/existing, but to progress to the top we really need the super-talented cream of the crop.
And ideally we grab the cream of the crop RIGHT BEFORE their price explodes, i.e. from the correct teams/leagues/situations/contract situations. I.e. Value>Cost

Levy probably feels like he tried that already when he splashed out for Rebrov, Bent, Berba etc.

Given the escalating costs of the stadium delays, would not be surprised to discover the club is now in much more of a pickle than Levy is prepared to let on. To the extent that, notwithstanding the argument that funding for stadium is completely separate, transfer funds will continue to be severely constricted for years to come.

I wonder how much the cost of the new stadium has been impacted upon by the low Wembley attendances. We pay an agreed fee per match and yet we are far from capacity for those fixtures.

and the money they are having to pay back to ST holders too, its £63 a game back for my ticket (mid range one) multiply that by 40k plus

It was always going to constrict transfer funds, the delays will have only added to that.

I’m more than worried about the cover situation for Harry Kane.

Now Son is back, Llorente is scoring and gaining match sharpness, Jansen is fitter and back in the squad, Sterling has a chance away to prove his talents, and Parrot seems destined for the top.....I’m worried we have far too many strikers!!!!

Don't worry. Remember, once the stadium is finished we can refinance all the debts. We then have a mortgage, just like you presumably do. We then make repayments at a rate that suits us. The stadium sponsorship will cover it.

Imagine if the stadium costs £750m

Imagine if we get £150m per year from the Premier League and TV like below; suddenly it is not so scary. Not as scary as your mortgage on your house.

Add in Champions League money and the revenue from the new stadium. And our tiny wage bill.
