Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Had a hectic day, and have not had a chance to catch up on any Spurs stuff until now. Even though I had no doubt this would happen, my heart lifted on seeing it confirmed. It is absolutely fantastic news.
This should send a strong message to our current squad and to any potentially new players contemplating offers to join (as well as to any sceptical fans, of which we seem to have more than a few).
Roll on 2018-2019. This could be a seminal season.

(And does this mean that Poch travelled to Copenhagen especially to tell Eriksen over dinner of his commitment? I like the thought that he would go to that level of assurance for a key player).
I think that’s exactly what he did in Copenhagen. After the season Eriksen’s just had I’m sure the top top clubs would be sniffing around this summer (and possible World Cup performances), so the boss went there to tell him he’d signed a new contract and give his plans for the coming season or two to try and convince Eriksen to sign as well.

That’s my take on it anyway. Class!

At least we now know why we can't afford to give Toby a pay rise :p

I think this shows that we have our valuations and stick with them.

We have looked at Poch and know he is the key figure, pay the man all the money.

I would suggest similar to come of Kane/Eriksen.

Alderweireld? Doesnt have the same hand to play. We offered what we thought to be fair, he can take it or leave it.

Clearly there is money to spend, but as always never to waste.

I remember Ferguson insisting that no player at Man Utd can earn more than he does. I think Mourinho and Guardiola insist on the same principle.....rightly so I guess otherwise the manager cannot have the same power and influence if the players are earning more

So I wonder if at Spurs the players and agents now know the ceiling of what they can aim for. 160k a week

I think this has always been the case with Levy and hes been true to that for the most part under his tenure....

I dont think this does anything but confirm that Toby's new contract is NOT just about money. I believe it will involve many different factors, like long term roster planning, fitness and a big one with Poch, attitude/squad harmony.

Im not actually sure what this means.

Im saying we have weighed up what we think he is worth, and offered it. Reportedly its a lot less than he wants, and so we are at an impasse.

We have offered Poch (reportedly) far more than Alderweireld, which suggests there is money in the pot - but we wont be held to ransom with it.
