Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

It’s fine lines, such fine lines. When that second goal against Leicester went in we was second in The league and I’m confident we would have gone on to score more in that game. Would we be having this conversation had that been the case regardless of the Colchester game? Yes we havent been out our best but we’ve been handed the hardest first 6 fixtures of anyone and are still within three points of third. New players need to be integrated still, this isn’t even Pochs ideal team playing yet. It’s SO early in the season, let’s see where we are at the half way stage when the fixtures have evened out - Last years form is irrelevant, as it is for every team. New teams, new players, new circumstances. I reckon Poch will pull this team together, but even if I’m wrong I’m happy to give him some proper time to find out.....

Common sense. We were probably 1cm from being 3rd.

I’m backing Poch, especially after what he said yesterday about the January window. It means he’s recognised and has acknowledged the much referred to “behinds the scenes” problem.

I’d be happy for him to bomb out the factions, regardless of who they are - now.

In Jan, if we could somehow get Bruno Fernandes, Atal, and Dybala as well as having Lo Celso, NDombele and Sess integrated, I reckon we’d see a marked improvement and the return of the high pressing game.

Massive massive ask I know!

Edit: as Grays said if some players are begrudging their lack of pay improvement and it’s translating to them not giving everything on the pitch, then new blood will solve that. I see the old guard as ‘old tottenham’ who still see us as that smaller club who’ve they’ve done a favour to...

New players will see us as the CL finalists, playing in this massive stadium, and will want to join and play up for us.

I suspect the old guard have that old Tottenham DNA - aka “sexy”

I like your thinking, but what are the chances?!

Id suggest the Fernandes deal is long dead. I hope talks around Dybala have continued, it was nearly done, and then we had/have a few months to see if it can be worked out. Atal would be nice, though Id be just as happy with a consistent Aurier.

Now there I am with a massive ask...

See, it’s contagious! :)

It’s the only real fix though. Just needs bloody doing as best as we can as quick as we can.

It's odd that pep took a year out, allegri is doing it, klopp has done it and talking about doing again and not an eyelash flickered, yet poch mentions it onced and its never forgotten.

The squad is taking too long to transition, once its completed and settled we will be fine. Thats unlikely to be until next season thoigh.

I doubt DL expected CL foitball for the last 4 seasons, or a run to the final, and being a prudent man i can't believe he has spent all that money or counted on having it every year.

Its the ultimate fix, though I would suggest things can be done now as well.

Im hoping this last week is a low point. A slap in the face/wake up call, and the real Poch steps in and takes over.

This group of players, even with the injuries etc, can be playing very good, winning football.

Replacements are obvious, as it stands, with Mourinho (spit) and Allegri free to take up a job tomorrow.

Perhaps not the way Id go, but certainly in the "no brainer" category.

There is a rising tide behind Poch leaving. The sort that can be difficult to ride out. If he gets his head down and performances follow though, all can be forgotten and the emphasis will move over to Ole or the next manager who is struggling.

I know little about Allegri outside of his time at Juve.
I'm getting fed up with Pochettino drip drip to press while not looking 'at it' football-wise.
Mourinho would be interesting, but in the same way, the idiot Boris Johnson is.

Nice comparison, and probably quite appropriate.

I think Mourinho would be kryptonite to our club. The antithesis of everything we have built up.

Allegri Im 50/50 on. Undeniable success, good and bad elements as a coach. If he came in Id be cautiously optimistic, rather than over the moon kind of thing...

To be honest Id be much more into a manager from the other end of the scale, get in someone like Ten Haag who is producing some excellent football, see what he can do with a squad like ours...

All very well Poch talking about fixing the squad in January, but if uncertainty over his own long-term commitment continues, that might affect Levy's willingness to move on his targets. Serious vicious circle fears.

Its an interesting point, this January business.

If the point is to get rid of those who are unsettled, I see no reason why they should be effecting the squad now. Bin them off already.

If the point is we need to keep buying, then I have concerns about Pochs ability (or willingness) to utilise the squad he has. A squad that, while obviously can be improved (cant they all?) is also obviously of sufficient quality to be playing much better than it currently is.

Yeah, I just think it's a bit of a case of familiarity breeding contempt; the price to be paid for not having freshened the squad up for too long. I still trust him to pull it round, but the sulking has got to stop, or that could run past its use-by date.
