Nothing precludes Chelsea buying him later. Although there is no automatic buyout I would think him being there puts them in the driving seat for future negotiations. Bit disappointed about this one.

I agree that’s what they do in general, was just saying specifically about Kovacic it might not be a bad move for them (I’ve not seen anything of him so no idea how good he is).Just to add just because there is no option to make it permanent doesn’t mean it doesn’t become permanent, I’ve seen that happen before....

Maybe? Maybe a year at that basket case is enough to put him in the shop window for City or Utd (post Jose ) and they just blow Chelsea away?
