As soon as he came back i knew our run would end. We're always going to concede with players like that. He would be good for bolton, wigan or a championship side.

I thought we had improved but if you like the old tottenham again, with players like Gomes, Gardner or dawson giving opponents goals then thats up to you.

Dawson was excellent on the ball against everton, had 58passes and only 1 was unsuccessful. Today...not so much

Has there ever been a player at the club with a more unerring ability to find an opposing player with a clearance or a misdirected pass? Daws has all the heart in the world and he loves it here, but he stands out like a sore thumb now for me as a relic from the Spurs of mid-table ambition. He's a decent player, but one who has remained at his level, while the overall standard in the squad has risen sharply around him. Being very brutally honest, he was only borderline good enough for us when a UEFA Cup place was the limit as a realistic target, and however much it saddens me to say it, he isn't any longer.

Unfortunately I agree with the criticism of Dawson. Great guy, strong committed player, but he really was shown up today. Back to the default long diagonal balls. A good squad player, but no longer someone guaranteed to start.

You are both tinkled off at what happened today, and you are lashing out at the wrong players. Far more culpable players had woeful performances, and yet you both igore them, and focus on a player still getting match fitness who probably wasted less passes than the midfielders did.
To make him solely responsible for the goal is laughable.

Dawson's a good player but not good enough to start for us, he should be back-up to Kaboul, I don't think they will ever form a consistent partnership, they are too similar.

He isn't amazing but think of some of the performances he has put in over the years, his partnerships with King and Bassong have been extremely successful, it's no coincidence that both players' qualities compliment his game.

Friedel (7) - kept us in the game. that header was so close he did well to get it out. one of daws or kaboul should have been ready to deal with it (and not both going for the same ball and both not getting it).

Walker (6) - Hardest I've seen him work for the team. Some mistakes as the game went on but he's learning very well, I think he will catch capello's eye.

Kaboul (7) - Maybe went up too many times but was more threatening than our midfielders. full marks for effort.

Dawson (6) - What can I say ... I think there's a clash of egos between Daws and Kaboul... Kaboul is the better player and unfortunately doesn't allow Bassong to command him. I wonder if Bassong would shine with Kaboul. But I really don't want to see Daws and Kaboul together again, even if it means getting Samba in.

Ekotto (7) - Excellent attacking stuff. Rose is miles behind! If Bale is injured I'd try BAE in midfield. Lennon (6) - Again OK game, expected more from him.

Parker (6) - Typical Parker but midfield somehow crowded and messy today.

Modric (7) - 6 shots one goal. sure the goal is important and counts, but really could do better with his technical capability. He should try to pass it into goal instead of powering it.

Bale (6) - Please, back to LM with the occasional roaming.

VDV (6) - Typical VDV but nothing came right for him today. He is not going to score again if he insists on spending all that time in deep midfield.

Ade (6) - Strong hold up play as the lone striker for most of the game. Should have left the ball going in for goal.

Harry (4) - fielded strongest player with experimental strategy but failed to get them to play our best game. Doesn't have a clue as to how to draw out defences. needs to ask if there is more to the game than just "fresh and happy players", who can't shoot or take a set piece for nuts.

Kaboul made Dawson look pants today. And of course everyone will be quick to point out the Everton game when he played 4 yards off our own 18 and was never pressed in the least. If we're going to keep playing attractive, passing football we'll need to start looking at CBs who look confident on the ball. Here's hoping Caulker will be ready for '12-13

This result also magnified our need for a new winger/striker (remy/leandro) when we're really struggling to break down defenses. Seems we haven't really been able to thoroughly dominate a team in a while, (like we should if we're really challenging for the title). We haven't scored 3 goals in the Prem since Bolton in early december. Just not good enough for a team with our ambition

Players were tired and it is difficult to rate but i think walker was amazing in his efforts.

I will make 4 points.

- Dawson is not good enough for a team that plays in the top ten, very shaky. If he starts, we'll concede. We need to sell him before the end of the window.
- Referees, how many fine goals will adebayor get disallowed this season? this is becoming a joke now.
- Team was tired, again why are city playing Monday and why are we playing 60 hours after our previous game?
- Vdv and adebayor need to play better, especially improve the finishing.
- I wanted defoe from the start, he came on too late aswell.

I'm sorry but you really need to be in the Knee Jerk thread with comments like that, last I knew Dawson has not played for four months.

He was not playing when we drew vs Swansea and Chelsea, nor was he playing when Stoke beat us so just where has he stopped our run?
Yes sometimes his decisions leave a lot to be desired, but I think everyone in the squad has done so at some point even Gallas and King, I'd rather have Dawson in before Bassong and Corluka any day of the week while G & K are injured.

The wheels have far from fallen off our wagon, we're still rolling and in with a big chance to do something brilliant this season and I for one would rather thay had a crappier game vs Wolves who don't have much influence on our season than say Pool or City.

On the contrary, I'm not spacegoating anyone; just stating my belief that Dawson has been rather left behind by the rest of the squad in quality terms. It's not his fault, but there it is. If anything, it's testament to the ambition the club has shown in recent seasons. It's certainly no knee-jerk, either; I've been critical of his ability to pick out an opposing player in a dangerous position with a pass or a clearance for years. I'm not calling for him to be sold; I think Bassong would be likelier to be moved on if we upgrade in that position, and rightly so, but I do think Daws would fall further down the order as a result. I'd be concerned for our CL ambitions (never mind the title) if I thought he was going to be a regular partner for Kaboul for the rest of the season.

I thought Benny was the most effective Spurs player, until he was subbed off. What was that all about? He defended stoutly, got forward well and guess what... he whipped in some great crosses. This is something the much hyped Walker seems to be incapable of.

I hold the view that Dawson will be exposed as a weak link in how we want to play the game. Thankfully Kaboul has improved beyond recognition, he has so much ability and while a few of his rampaging runs didn't pay off, they did ease pressure and prevent Dawson's Championship-esque diagonal balls. It was so obvious what he was going to do, and was also obvious how out of place it was considering the way we have been playing out of defence. Hopefully King is back for the big games coming.

Was watching the game from block 26 last night, which in fact is quite a good view. I'm usually in block E, but you can see a lot more close up action. Anyway here are my ratings

Friedel 6.5 Should have claimed the ball for the goal

Walker 6.5 - Penetrating runs, nothing to aim for or outcrowded in the box by wolves

Dawson 6 - Tussled well with Fletcher, close to losing that contest.

Kaboul 7 - Good defenisvely, should leave the attacking to BAE

Ekotto 6.5 - Solid

Lennon 7 - The only player to get behind Wolves constantly, don't know why he was taken off

Bale 6.5 - Not bad but not great. Average game and had nothing to aim for in the box

Parker 5 - Ventured forward destroying our shape forcing modric to hold. Misplaced passes under no pressure, wrong decision making when attacking and I cannot remember one single tackle he made today. The only thing he did well was clatter Frimpong. Over than that for the person supposed to add steel to our midfield he shirked his defensive responisibility

Modric 7 - Good strike, kept things ticking well, but parker's lack of disicipline restricted modric getting forward and influencing things more

VDV 7 - Crowded out by wolves, hacked and pushed at every occasion but retained the ball well. Wolves shut down all the avenues at times today so not many attacking options to aim for.

Adebayor 6 - up for the physical tussle but wolves seemed to have an extra man on the pitch he was so outcrowded

Defoe and Rose didn't add anything of note, nor have enough time to influence proceedings. Redknapp must make sure that Parker doesn't take the attacking responsibilities from modric. Most of the time he was the furthest CM forward and he is not the person you want unlocking defenses as that is not his game. Modric is the best in our team at unlocking defenses, why was he so deep yesterday?
