Luka Vuskovic

Has he not mentioned a few times that his dream is to play at Hamburg with his brother and that Spurs know this? His brothers ban from football finishes in November i believe, which means its another loan to the same team if that is the case, or we will sign his brother which i doubt.

He said he wants to play with his brother at some point, he also just acknowledged he's a Tottenham player next season.

So he will do as we want whether that's loan to Hamburg again or playing for us. We aren't going to be letting him have another season at Hamburg just because he fancies playing with his brother....

Don't they play the same position? I bet his brother hopes he fecks off to England so he can get his shirt back :tearsofjoy:

If we are offloading VDV and Romero because they are both rubbish (according to the perceived wisdom on here) then could his brother not do a job for us as next season's spacegoat?

Could they play together for the national team?

Had Frank told him he was 3rd choice CB and going to be registered in the UCL squad he would have been at Spurs this season. Because he was 4th choice and wouldn’t have got Registerd he went out on loan instead.

He is now coming back to almost certainly be starting and might be the best CB at the club already.

Plus if he’s brother gets back from his ban and if starting for a Bundesliga club he will call a national team call up and they can play together for Croatia.

It’s one of the most fudged up, short sighted transfers we’ve pulled in quite some time. He was seriously impressive in Belgium last season, must have impressed in training and friendly, so we said go to Hamburg and play. How brain dead a move. Should always have 4 top centre backs if playing two, that way can rotate or deal with injuries and fatigue. As it turns out, he would highly likely be one of our first two now,

Not going over the top at all are you? the guy has had 1 season and its his goalscoring that has got most of the praise not his defending.

You're right he's going well over the top, but Vuskovic is definitely getting significant praise for his defending this season.
While it's easy to get great defensive stats when you're in a lower-table team, he seems to be (literally) head and shoulders above the competition.

What I particularly like is that he seems to be the type to identify shortcomings and actively deal with them. Employing an athletics coach to improve his acceleration, for example.

With Danso, Dragusin, and Davies as decent backup to VdV and Romero, sending Vuskovic to Hamburg was definitely the right move. In hindsight, well, Dragusin isn't as good as he could have been and of course Davies broke his ankle...but on the other hand, Danso has been great. I don't really see how he could stay there next season though, no matter how much he wants to play alongside his brother. Perhaps if we escape relegation and have a(nother) rebuild season, we can loan him until January in exchange for a 5yr contract extension.

A couple of podcasts said we could probably get a similar fee to Kane from Bayern, that's how highly rated he is apparently.
