Lucas Moura

I thought that he did some nice stuff without ever looking threatening. It was a difficult period of the game to make an impact because City were quite happy to let him have the ball away from goal and close him out when he got close. I can't see him starting a game until a top four place is assured.

At least he showed some attacking intent and had a shot on target!

I think that at that stage of the game, City were quite happy to let us have the ball in non-threatening positions.

But ran at them and showed some energy. I think we looked so toothless upfront Lucas was exactly who should be starting. Lamela turns us into a team that attacks like the current United.
City showed the value of pace and the surprise of the occasional ball over the top! Like at Chelsea.
Maybe that could be called our plan b.;)

But Dele has walked the walk eg at Chelsea.
Lamela work rate has been good but he is not productive enough imho

Again, I say yesterday Dele was no better than Lamela.

Against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago I think Lamela played very well as a false striker even though he did not score and Dele did.

Are you trying to imply that Lamela has been poor since he came back from his injury?

Dele is a player I have supported all season even when he was not playing well and jokers on here were accusing him of becoming arrogant, big headed and when people were ignoring the fact that young players naturally have inconsistencies in their form.

On Tuesday I would very happily see Lucas, Son and Eriksen start behind Kane

I don’t think Lamela is anywhere near as productive as Dele. Cannot fault Lamela for effort.

He had a bright cameo and i would say is knocking on the door of the first team - probably needs a few more sub appearances to properly force himself in but it's looking promising

When he comes on he has an impact

That normally warrants a chance to start if we have a defeat

It's a little more complex than that when points/results are important and there are established players competing with you for a spot - might need a little more game time to force his way in, think back to how long it took Kane to get his shot in the first XI despite regularly putting in top performances off the bench and in the Europa League/cups

I could not disagree with you more, we have just a month left of the season, I think he has done enough to warrant his first league start, particularly after the way we played yesterday

Ahead of Alii Son or Eriksen? Im not sure he has tbh who do you drop there? Im not saying that he hasn't looked good just that he is up against three good players who have each had good seasons and are proven to regularly contribute goals and assists - big call to drop one of them at the business end of the season.

Having a player like Moura on the bench eager to impress is a good option to have for the time being

He has looked sharp in the FA Cup as well as his cameo performances in the league, after our stale performance what else can he do? It seems illogical reasoning to me to suggest he should not start one of our next 2 matches bearing in mind we have a midweek match on Tuesday and a semi final over the weekend.

Should be ahead of Lamela for a starting berth up front imho
Son is still ahead of both though!

Or Son>Moura>Lamela ;)

I could see him starting in the game midweek as that would be a case of rotating certain players out ahead of the semi final, i imagine Rose and Aurier will play too, that's what we need good squad options for and a good performance then may give Poch a headache for the United game but it's unlikely as Son Alli and Eriksen have done enough over the season to be relied upon, one defeat doesnt change that and Pochettino isn't one to make drastic changes on a whim

And yet prior to yesterday he has been an unused sub in several league matches so being on the bench makes no difference as Sissoko is normally the go to man ahead of him. I must confess I have been a bit surprised that he has not even come on as a sub in matches that we have been winning.

I am not saying for one moment that those three aforementioned players should be cast asunder, rather just stating that having been bought in January that I believe Lucas has done enough to earn a start in his first league match in April.
