Layne Staley is my personal favourite singer of all time, and Alice in Chains my favourite band. But when he passed away it didn't come as any shock. It was almost a relief as it was clear to anyone the hell he was going through.
However, when Chris Cornell died I was absolutely stunned. Was one of those 'you will always remember where you were when you heard' moments. I was in Windsor Legoland queuing up for a ride with the kids, and just checked my phone. I couldn't talk for about 5 minutes. Was just totally bewildered and confused, and obviously heartbroken.
