Life insurance

My wife and I have never really considered this before as we both work and could cover our mortgage if needed.

We decided to have a look today and get some quotes, but it seems incredibly expensive. How much do you lot pay a month and where do you get insurance from?

monthly and im with legal and general had it years never had to claim because im still alive

I pay like 30 quid a month. For cover of around £300k. I got this through work with Scottish Widows but changing provider in January as work are changing provider.

i also get four years salary from work - although not sure whether I have to die on the job to get that cash - never understood that bit.

Im worth more dead than alive tho

How do you know im not married with kids? ;)

I have two mortgages and stuff which I would like to pass on to my brother (if I dont have children) and if I do then pass it off to them and my wife. And its cheaper now than in a few years so it makes sense.

Fair play and it makes sense, your actually quite sensible as well as having a smoking hot body. Health insurance is more important to me especailly as 70% of my income is from my work and im self employed. The other 30% comes from property i rent out and fudge all interest on savings.

Im not all about looks - I am body and brain ;)

Health insurance is another matter. Thats a fudgein killer (ironic).

There's obviously something wrong with my quotes then. I'm only looking to cover £200K of mortgage and 5 years of school fees but they're quoting me £75 per month.

I pay mine annually for a level term benefit. 19 years to suffice for the family till Number 1 and Number 2 (who's due end-Feb) leave home. Or not, as the case may be.

Very much dependent on the amount of cover you want. I have a relatively high amount so pay quite a lot. The 4x Death in Service benefit from work would suffice to pay the mortgage, but with kids, I had a serious rethink and realised I really didn't want the other half having to worry about stuff like nursery/school fees, blah, blah, blah.

Oh, I recently switched to L&G. 'cos they were one of two who were willing to do the whole thing paperless. As it turned out, it wasn't because I needed to have a health screen (ten days in SA on work apparently made me higher risk for HIV!), and a financial underwriting questionnaire because of the extent of cover I was asking for.

Is this a joint policy? or single?

Joint would make sense as youre a much much much older person than someone as young as myself.

Blimey. That does sound a lot. My annual premium is something like £650. I kicked it off through Cavendish Online. Worth a look if you haven't already.
