Lets Talk About Wages

Have you even known a football player to take a wage cut? He's going to be getting 170k a week whether its made up of bonuses, signing on fees or whatever.

any squad player leaving City will have to take a wage cut or they will simply remain there on the sidelines picking up their money until their contracts run out

Dzeko, Tevez, Adebeyor, Johnson, etc wont get that kind of money anywhere else

He ain't worth what he's on at Emirates Marketing Project. We might as well pay extra for a top striker like Llorente and give him the high wages instead.

- Ade's transfer fee will be smaller than it should be because City want rid.

- Ade's pay at Spurs will be within our existing wage structure, meaning it'll be significantly less than his City pay.

- The signing-on bonus will be a bridge between those two: topping up Ade's drop in headline pay, with Spurs willing and able to pay it because the transfer fee itself was so small.

The net effect of those three things will be that our wage structure will stay the same and over the course of his contract Ade will cost whatever a player transferring for a standard £12m-£15m fee would cost. There will end up being nothing exceptional about the amount he costs or is paid over the entire piece.

Levy is not going to pay almost 30 mill for a 27 year old striker unproven in the English league, and put him on big wages too. Come on, lets get real here

I just think for all Adebayor's good play, he is not consistent enough or a good enough finisher. When he's bad, he might as well not be on the pitch.

that can apply to lots of strikers....

ive seen many a game where Llorente himself has been anonymous

low transfer fee and high wages only gives us one option - sell him as soon as possible (i.e. if we make champs league) - and we might even come out ahead.

pay him lump sum upfront - high chance we get screwed due to injury, lack of motivation or sheer petulance.

Come off it, we all know Adebayor has days where he can't be bothered.

I would also like it if we had a striker who doesn't look completely embarassed when we play Arsenal away.

ok, the fact he is ex-scum is a problem to you, i can understand that

and still he contributed plenty of goals and assists last season. I dont know, but he must have impressed someone at Spurs for them to be working hard to get a deal done for him.

It isn't a problem to ME, it looks like the way he handled himself when he played for Emirates Marketing Project against them bothers him.

At least Llorente tries in every game which Adebayor doesn't.

you know this for a fact then???
