Thought he'd atleast be getting on now with the amount of windows we've been linked with him. Seems like we've been watching him for the past 15 seasons.

If we were to do that sort of deal in Brazil it would be Ganso.

Now that's a name I haven't heard mentioned for a coule of seasons. Im sure around 2011 he was feted to be the next big thing alongside Lucas Moura.

Pato and Ganso would be two very interesting players if we were able to get them imo.

yep, ganso and neymar were the two wonderkids to come out of santos in recent years. ganso was even more highly rated than neymar at one point, although that was partly due to the fact that he was older. and he was being labelled the new zidane. however, in the past 2 years, his career has stagnated. probably because hes just not that good. but also because hes had a couple of knee ligament inuries.

i don't think we should be signing ganso or damiao. we have enough playmakers in our team, many who are likely better than ganso, and are also young. and for damiao, he's probably not good enough for us either. he's miles behind Jo and Fred for the national team. and we woudnt want those two guys, so no point getting damiao imo. and although hes still young-ish, i think hes around 25 now. so very unlikely to improve to a worldclass standard. which is mainly why he was so highly rated a few years ago. ie. his value was in his potential. that doesnt exist now.

When you saw how bad Fred and Jo played in the WC, and Damiao wasnt even in the squad - I think its reasonable to think its ok we didnt buy him ;)

Yeah but Scolari also left out Coutinho and Lucas (PSG).

Those two could have instantly solved what I saw as Brazil's chronic lack of creativity and over-reliance on Neymar in instigating attacking moves. But he left them at home.

Scolari chose his side two years ago and has been drilling them since, not that it showed.

Ha, no. They were a bland, tired looking side devoid of any skill and creativity.

I'd also have played Hernanes in midfield over Paulinho.

Kaka
Ronaldinho
Baptista
Robinho

Seriously, you could make a decent team out of the Brazilians left behind.

From Wiki:

As reported last night, the famous Leandro Damiao is in Sevilla this morning ahead of a medical for Real Betis.

For those asking about a price, I believe he’s arriving on a free transfer on a deal until the end of the season with an optional 1-2 years.

:D

Bullet dodged there for sure.
You're most likely right of course. But it's worth pointing out that there's no way to know how a player might have progressed if he'd joined a different club at a certain point. Spurs might have been the perfect fit for him and his career could have taken a completely different path if he'd arrived here a few years ago.

As I say though - I tend to agree with you on this, but we'll never really know for sure.

Michael Ricketts was a similar one. Ended up fading to obscurity after just missing out on a move to us when Hoddle was our manager. People ended up saying that it was a bullet dodged. However he had so many good attributes for a centre forward that I think he would've been successful in our team.
