Kyle Walker

Haven't read too much abut today yet.
I think Kyle suffered desperately today from the sort of brainfart which happens when very tired AND when your right-side partner is out. The first goal today simply does not happen if Azza's on the pitch as he covers the space Coutinho passed into very well, and the second goal doesn't happen because Lennon is always an outlet. It was a stupid pass which left Lloris with a major decision, but given the fact he has (in the last few games) pulled off some saving tackles on the LEFT coming across to cover, it's a shame that his glaring error was so utterly punished.

Not to that extent. You might always have a weekest link so to say but he is an accident waiting to happen

He's not. He's a young player, in only his second full premier league season, learning his trade.

Any young player coming through will have ups and downs. We should get behind them rather than over reacting to every slip up and blip.

+1

It's easier for young attacking players, because they don't concede goals. When they do play badly and make mistakes it's not as problematic for the team.

It's not overreacting when he is making the same mistakes every week. The point is he can't defend properly! And the unfortunate thing is for him is that's his main job

He's not.

last week against Arsenal he was boss and they didn't get a sniff of a chance down his side.

Thats what I think. He didnt have that outlet that he has in Lennon - this is why Lennon is SO fudging fudging ABSOLUTELY fudging CRUCIAL.

However Steff - the guy could have just kicked it anywhere - I know we are trying to keep possession but we are also trying to win and if in any fudging doubt you just hoof it and we have players like Dawson who can deal with it.

Like I say walker has improved since early on in the season and today he saved us a couple of times particularly in the first half I think on the racialist ****

I think that it is completely unrealistic to expect an attacking full back to come through without them making mistakes along the way.

Agree, it was stupid from him, just clear it the other way/launch it upfield if need be, but that was the same sort of silly pass he has tried before.

I don't remember disliking watching a Spurs player as much as Walker. One of the most brainless players I can remember. It pains me to watch him accelerate into a crowd of opposing players, or attempt his abysmal stepovers. What annoys me is that he doesn't seem to learn - he almost comes across as borderline departed. All this, when we had the antithesis in Corluka - not to say he was perfect, of course.

I'd be very surprised if Walker is with us next season - and yes, I thought he was dreadful last year as well, and yes, he had a rare good game today, mistake aside. He really is the new Alan Hutton.

Disagree with this mate.
Generally I think he's really good and will get even better (still a young man)...

Really hope Kaboul is back in contention after the break. Swansea is 3 weeks away, surely if he is back training he has to be in with a shout of making the squad.
He could rotate with Walker for a few games to give the lad a rest during the run-in
Ekotto - Vertonghen - Dawson - Kaboul

Decent back line with Gallas,Caulker and Walker available for rotation

I think people have to accept that every player will make a costly mistake on a few occassions a season. Get over it.

Vertonghen has made positional mistakes this season which has led to goals, so has Lloris etc... just because they didnt touch the ball doesnt mean they didnt make a mistake

I am not walkers biggest fan but i have noticed an improvement and hopefully he wont let today get him down too much

He puts in the effort for 90 mins and what ive always said is I can forgive mistakes but what I am unable to forgive is the total lack of fudgein effort.

I wouldn't want to see Kaboul at right back as anything other than a stop gap

I'll chime in on the side of walker. Mistake, don't read too much into it. Right winger a must to create space in the centre and to stretch play.

First tackle on Suarez was a beauty though. On the other side of the pitch as well.

I really think we need to make an example of Walker and disembowel him before the next home game and stick his head on a totem pole by the half way line to make sure every other player sees what happens when they make a mistake.

Or, perhaps, we could get behind him, and see it as just being part of every footballer's development - that they will make mistakes now and again and, hopefully, learn from those mistakes and become better players for it.

I have not read any of the above posts. Obviously Kyle made a poor pass but just like with Naughton (what game was that?) it was Lloris' fault for the second goal.

This spacegoating of players is totally out of order. Not read all the comments but I get the general gist. There is a lot on the shoulders of fullbacks arguably the hardest position on the pitch - expected to contribute to attack and defence which is why they make more mistakes. Not many teams will be able to produce an Ashley Cole or Pablo Zabaleta We need to lay off a very good young player.

Hang on mate both Ekotto and Kaboul are prone to complete lapses of concentration too.
