Juande Ramos

Tottenham won a cup, everyone was happy. Then? Chairman sold Keane and Berbatov and left us with Bent and Pav. Then? Sacked.

Chairman sold? Whilst the replacements weren't ideal was Berbatov and Keane going to stay at a club that had finished 11th?

Exactly. United had won the league and Champions League. Liverpool were close to competing for a title. Both teams were performing well.

If Levy can take the blame for anything it's failure to replace them adequatley. Chasing Heskey and Larsson (according to reports) on deadline day was embarassing. But then again it brings up the question of whether Levy was to blame or Comolli or Ramos. A bit like we have now with Baldini, Levy and AVB

And there in lies the rub of my theory that one of the reasons Levy has a DoF in place is that it allows him to absolve himself of any blame (or at least not be criticized in the press) for such decisions.

Might be the case, but if it is he is wrong. It makes him look like he doesn't know what he's doing and means that when he has to get rid of the DoF, who he'd apointed to begin with, more attention is drawn to his chairmanship then if it was just a manager.

Tottenham won a cup, everyone was happy. Then? Won five games out of twenty-four. Then? Sacked.

Blame all of them then - not replacing Berbatov and Keane was an absolute disaster. Had we bought adequate replacements in June and given them a proper pre-season with the team, things could have panned out differently for Ramos. Of course, the abysmal form after our cup win was Ramos' responsibility. But losing our best strike partnership for GHod knows how long, and not replacing them with proper alternatives, didn't make things easier for him.

I think this is a story of two or three parts to be honest.

Did Ramos deserve to be sacked based on form alone, maybe, maybe not, In today's football terms then yes, but any manager would expect a little more time.

Did Ramos lose the changing room, I likely think he did, was it warranted, perhaps not but players prove through time to be temperamental and I would imagine him taking away their daily luxuries rightly or wrongly (for the record I agree with his theories) would have started him off on a back foot. I think the player need to take a portion of the blame here but that never really happens in football. Maybe he should have taken a softer approach and got himself in first rather than go all guns blazing.

Tottenham as we all know is a club that is going to have to buy young and sell high to keep us in the higher reaches of the league and give us finances to re-invest into the squad, its a cycle that has gone round and round since Keane, Berbatov, Modric and Bale so the manager has to show some understanding.

But Redknap showed he could get the same squad working after he left. So it was justified to sack him. 2 points from 8 games is disasterous no matter who is in charge. That couple with our appaling form at the end of the previous season meant he had to go.

He did initially but then we started to struggle again and he adjusted the squad in the Jan transfer window, buying 3 strikers and a defensive ball winning midfielder to get us going again.

Would anyone take him back then?

Though Dnipro looked really good tonight. Very organised, disciplined and with a plan.

The man that:

1) played Modric as a defensive midfielder

2) Thought Jermaine jenas was the most important player at our club....made him captain

3) Constantly played Dos Santos despite being useless

4) Rested king for league games and played him in UEFA cup games

ummmmmmmmmm no.

Was tactically spot on tonight though. Like he usually was in our big matches (though unfortunately not our small matches).

Yeah as soon as I see a pig fly, hell freeze over, West Ham win the Champions League and Bentley win World player of the year more times than Messi
