January transfer window wishlist

He was considered greedy and suffering from poor decision making at Liverpool, now at Swansea he tried to do too much when sometimes the simple things are more important. I think he's got average technique and ability, his goal was O.K, his assist was O.K, and his two dodgy passes were K.O. Spurs, England, whoever - should be looking at better. A lot better.

Not as a transfer target but I think Shelvey will be a serious player, needs that maturity that he'll get by playing week in week out

On the button. This is not a serious transfer thread, I don't want him for Spurs. But for England in WC season he is at the right club.

This thread is a bit schizophrenic.

Are we discussing a "Wish List" in the sense of Ronaldo and Bale, or a "Wish List" in the sense of realistic options?

I think the latter would make for a far more sensible debate.

Kneejerk but I really like Pozuelo. I sound like a broken drum but Barkley can be a little slow at releasing the ball, whereas Pozuelo looks like a real pass-and-move player - his movement against Liverpool was very clever and he plays the cutting pass quickly, which suggests vision. I have no idea where to fit him, mind.

I like a lot of Swansea players, actually - Chico Flores would be a useful replacement for Daws, and 20-year-old Ben Davies is doing really well at LB, though stylistically may not be as well suited for us as a more aggressive attacking FB.

I like Januzaj, but our kids were just about equal in ability to him when we played them last season, though "making it" at this stage means a lot more than ability. And of course I want Halilovic! We need a Croatian here again!

Oh, and El Shaaraway - 20mill??? In our dreams. Will never happen.

Isn't England's chance of a decent midfield in the future more down to the the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wheelchair, Walcott, Cleverley?

Written them all off already - weak mentality and not technical enough. On to the next gen.

Benteke. Offers something different and something we still need IMO. Swop for Ade?

Michu is also a good shout.

Wheelchair a weak mentality and not technical enough?? come on8-[

Cleverley and Ox wont form part of Englands future imo, but the other 2 runts will have something to offer, Wheelchair more than Walcott of course

Still don't get it with Wheelchair. Don't watch him regularly but even the MotD highlight reels are never that impressive. He is decent but yet to see why he will be world-class except for the usual media driven arsenal yoof ****fest

just wanted to mention Lorenzo Insigne at Napoli....we are never gonna get him but what an impressive young talent. Amazing free kick last night but his overall play since pre season has been top notch

Spurs keen to sign Basel winger Mohamed Salah next summer after having a bid rejected this term.

Tottenham tried to sign Basel winger Mohamed Salah this summer and remain favourites to land the 21-year-old next year, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Di Marzio, who appears to have links to Spurs after calling a number of their summer deals correctly, says Basel have decided to cash in on the Egyptian winger in June 2014.

Spurs reportedly saw an £8m bid for the tricky playmaker rejected this summer but Salah is expected to cost significantly if he continues to impress this season.

The Egypt international scored in a brilliant display against Chelsea on Wednesday night, as the Swiss team ran out 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge.

Roma and Inter Milan are also interested in the Egypt international but Di Marzio’s believes the North London outfit are favourites for Salah’s signature at this stage.

LOL There is absolutely no chance that Tottenham will sign Salah. That story is made up. The guy has a genuine hate for the Jewish community. It would be funny to sign the fella and not tell him about our Jewish roots, but seriously he refused to first play a champions league qualifier against Maccabi and then played but refused to shake the hands of every player pre match but instead stood pitch side and changed his boots lol

In the return leg to get around with shaking hands he did this

Seriously forget signing Salah. Not happening ever!

I will though sign him on FM 14 just to put him in the reserves so he rots there though.

Tottenham have sent scouts to run the rule over Athletic Bilbao forward Ibai Gomez.

Andre Villas-Boas is thought to be monitoring developments concerning the 23-year-old as he is out of contract in June and yet to agree a new deal with his current club.

Gomez joined Athletic from Sestao in 2010 and spent the majority of his first two seasons in Bilbao with their reserve side.

But he made a first-team breakthrough in 2011-12, scoring twice in Athletic's run to the Europa League final, and featured prominently last term.

His displays have alerted several European clubs, including Tottenham, but Athletic are keen to keep him - although they will have to open talks soon to fend off interest from elsewhere.

Tottenham Hotspur determined to land Southampton star Luke Shaw in January and will open bidding at £15m

11:24am Monday 30th September 2013 in Sport

Spurs will continue their summer sprending spree in January and have made Southampton left back Luke Shaw their top target.

Shaw has been on Tottenham's radar for more than a year and was high on their shortlist in the summer.

Due to lengthy negotiations with Real Madrid over Gareth Bale and Andre Villas-Boas' eagerness to have a player ready to play in the first team, Spurs pursued Fabio Coentrao instead.

However that deal is now thought to be unlikely given the player's wage demands and Tottenham have been impressed enough with Shaw's performances this season to make a significant bid in January.

Southampton are reluctant to let their prize asset leave but Spurs are thought to be ready to offer £15m while allowing Shaw to remain at St Mary's for the rest of the season.

Wasn't there lots of ITK that Luke Shaw is an avid Chelski fan who'd want o play for them one day; Surely Luke Shaw to us is a no-go then?

We need a goalscoring striker in the worst way. Bale masked this problem last season.

Someone like Suarez would do. We won't get him, but someone like him.

Like him or not, Suarez is production personified. He scores goals for a laugh, and always looks like scoring, he wins penalties, and has assists. And he scores goals even when his team isn't playing well. It doesn't matter about the 'service' to him, or what's behind him. Doesn't need time to 'adjust, gel or settle in'. Bang, 2 goals yesterday...after a long layoff.

We've held **** and Chelski to one goal each, but we didn't have....you know what.

Why not? Not like every player that we sign is an an avid Spurs fan, are they? Although Paulinho seems close ;)
