He's been off form now for two years, whatever way you look at it, signing him would be a big risk.

Im not sure he has been out of form for two years at all.

Liverpool consistently played him unfit, of course he wasnt going to be great.

He has been out of form this year, and Im sure there are reasons for it - things turning sour at Liverpool, coming back from long term injury, new baby, big money move and weight of expectation, manager getting sacked....

I am certain though that (ridiculous fee aside) he wouldnt present any real risk to us.

He IS a fabulous player. He needs a manager to love him and a team to enjoy playing in - we could give him both and reap the benefits
