Jose doesn’t give minutes for sentiment so he must be pleased with Clarke in training. Still hard to see where he fits in though, the wide positions are stocked so who’s role is he competing for?
So centre back then?Anyone not doing the business,
Maybe he's so thin, you assume he is taller than a stockier guy of the same height. But yeah he did look 6'. Hopefully will add some muscles this year. How tall is Jack Clarke? Seems quite tall on tv....
I thought that too at the time; I remember Andros Townsend smashing one top bins against Shamrock Rovers, and he tried to do it again 5 times in every game from there onwards.I'm kind of happy he didn't bury it in the top corner last night! He would have been hyped up to another level, and that could have made the pressure on him a bit too much. Fans and pundits would judge every minute of his future performances, based on that special moment. Better for him to take step by step a bit out of the spotlight.
So centre back then?
Tbf he also did it on his debut in January 2011 when he produced an absolute blinder against Charlton in the FA Cup 3rd round and was named MotM. I remember being surprised and disappointed (!) the way Harry swiftly deflated both Townsend and the inevitable media hype calling for him to be given a run in the first team by saying dismissively he would be going straight back out on loan to a Championship side.I thought that too at the time; I remember Andros Townsend smashing one top bins against Shamrock Rovers, and he tried to do it again 5 times in every game from there onwards.
I must admit i have not watched Stoke for a while but they have never really been a team that encourages skill, long ball and chase is the normal. Maybe they have changed?
I don't really mind skilful, young attacking players going to such teams. They have to learn to fight for the team first and foremost which is good for them. The player will still get chances to show their ability on the ball as well.I must admit i have not watched Stoke for a while but they have never really been a team that encourages skill, long ball and chase is the normal. You can see why Jose thinks it will be a good grounding for him...Doubt it under Michael O’Neill. Good manager who gets results but it’s not pretty.
