Jack Clarke

This is a great example of muddled thinking transfer wise. Why not let him play in 'our' U23's?
Yes, it may be part of the deal but there must be a 'play or return' clause.

Getting fast-tracked in to the team because of a contractual obligation won't do much for a players mentality imo

Reports suggest it was MPs idea. Maybe an informal agreement he had with Biesla. According to the journalist, Levy wouldn't let Leeds have Clarke loaned back, only at the last minute for Poch to say he doesn't want Clarke this season, and loan him back.

In hindsight he would have been better off with us.

He can’t get in as they have loaned in too many players

I get there's the maximum total of loan players in the match day squad, but he's not in the squad because he isn't showing enough in training to get in ahead of those loan players.

Of course we're looking at the small sample size and it's early days but I think this may go to show the vast difference in buying someone in January and loaning them back (Dele) rather than during the summer transfer window to then send them back for a full season (Clarke). With the former it's clear that you're there to finish what you've been a part of and will definitely poised in the balance of the squad. With the latter I think it's more likely there be some resentment and perhaps being a bit alienated from the rest of the squad. If you're saying it's a dream come true to sign for a club like Tottenham and then whisked back straight away it's a bit like waking up from a dreamland of intimate custard threesomes with Kelly Lebrock in Weird Science + Urseula Andress from the beach in Dr No to find your mangy carling loving missus snoring away.

Before anyone jumps at me, I'm by no means saying that a top flight move has gone to his head, don't know enough about the player in question and haven't been spying on Leed's training sessions (fnar fnar) so nothing personal aimed at Jack Clarke himself but more this kind of loan. Wasn't there a Guardian article that suggested we have a recall clause in January? Lot of games to come and hopefully the situation will change otherwise it's got to be considered.

Not if playing time isn't earned.

Doesn't Kane talk about the hard times he had on loan as character building? Doubt he'd be the player he has become if he waltzed in to every team we sent him to

Harry Kane played games. Not at Spurs but he played games.
Treat them mean and keep them keen is fine but not for too long. Clark should go and play!
I seriously doubt the transfer thinking by whoever is calling the shots ATM.

Well they have a loan back up keeper so that’s one space

And their main striker is NKeitah on loan again

So that’s their squad full

Nothing wrong with loaning Clarke back out if Poch didn’t want him this season but how about to a different Championship side?

Spent plenty of time on the bench too

Not sure why everyone keeps persisting with this too many loans line?

Bielsa has explicitly said it’s because he’s picking other players ahead of Clarke and basically named the 4 wingers he currently prefers to him.

So the problem isn’t that there are other loans. It’s that Bielsa doesn’t think he’s as good as the 4 players ahead of him!

Played games as he earned the right to play though? - although he struggled at Leicester and I do think genuinely fighting for his place because he’s never been an easy in the eye / youngest in class has made Kane the player he is. I’d hate to see a player go on loan with a must play clause, as long as there is a recall one of it doesn’t work out.

You could imagine Bielsa testing him because he now belongs to us, but in the hope that he will work even harder to prove himself.

That said Poch’s preference for a small squad may need to be revisited if our injury record continues.

U23s football is terrible.

Its all pretty passing and there is no real tension in the games

Even if he is not in the squad at Leeds he is fighting for a place which is unlikely at Spurs.

yes all true
I would think he would better at ’a’ Brentford!
Leeds looks tough to break into!

If we were splashing out on a young winger, I can’t help but look slightly enviously towards Daniel James instead.

He might just be a match of the day highlights player, but that’s looking more attractive than a championship reserve currently!

far to obvious!
James scored a beauty last night for Wales and a good goal for united recently!

we must try for Max Aarons this Jan IMHO
