ITK Thread

I'm not sure about McCarthy. He's a good player certainly but for me he is missing something to make him a great player. I think that missing ingredient is drive and determination. I don't see it in him. Watching him always reminds me of Roy Keane, style wise, but unlike Keane he won't go out and dominate the game though he has the tools to do so. I think for that reason he's no better than what we have, except maybe Paulinho.

Isnt that what Poch is good at, getting decent players to perform better and working harder as part of a disciplined system. He may be able to make him set it up.

Roger Morgan works for the daily mail and does get good info.

Not just Poch, McCarthy will be one for the statsman, Mitchell too.

Don't ever remember the Daily Mail having good transfer news on us?

Not sure. He's disciplined/can follow instruction and hardworking which Martinez will like, but I'm not sure he's really intelligent enough. I would say he's more a Moyes Everton playe

Why are you always talking about players intelligence like its fact?

Trix on COYS re Ings...

£9mil gets him now, and yes he would leave.

Storts on COYS says we want £5M for Naughton

By that token we would not have Fazio playing for us right now

Fazio paid his own buy-out clause - permitted and quite common in Iberia. That's a bit different to throwing a wobbly and trying to agitate your way out of the club.

Agreed 100% I don't think Ings is the type to throw a strop. I think he'll carry on performing for Burnley until his contract ends this Summer.

I like your idea of buying Ings and loaning him back to them until the Summer. Would secure him for a reasonable fee and give Burnley some stability until then.

I was referring more to Savilla being unhappy with the nature of his departure

How much did Fazio pay.. Or was he slipped a nice little wedge to do it.

£8m

Basically all Iberian teams are required by law to have buy-out clauses for all their players. But they can only be evoked from within Iberia (another Spanish or Portuguese club).

So if a team from a different country wants a player from Iberia at buy-out rate, the player pays it himself and is then reimbursed.

Young. Home grown. Pacey. Bags of energy. And can score in the PL. Plus 9 million is a nominal fee for a striker for a top 6 club. Only issue we have is moving Ade or Soldado on.
