I'm not sure that this was the case really. We knuckled down got a goal back and looked as though we believed we could get another one. I think that Harry made a mistake in changing us to 4-4-2. Had we carried on in the way we were at 2-1 down it was quite likely that Atkinson would've sought to even up his shocking earlier decision and we would've been right back in it.

Exactly right. The real decision they should be complaining about was the FA's decision to sack Capello. That's what fudged us over repeatedly in the end.
 
I agree. We have clearly had more big decisions go against us than for us this year that it is getting utterly ridiculous. Just all of Adebayor's goals that get chalked offside when they aren't for example - I mean WTF? Has that ever happened to another player?

Yes it looks like we are playing the victim but I think we are. The previous game Chelsea get the helping hand of 2 blatant off-side goals to beat relegation fighting Wigan. Then yesterday they get the luxury of being awarded a goal that was no-where near over the line. Regardless of whether we are playing victims, it alters the flow of the game. We don't get a fair crack at the result, because our game plan has to go out of the window. We have to attack, or risk losing in a whimper. That opens up more space and that's where 2 of their goals came from. We would not have been so gung-ho had we only been a goal down, I don't think that can be denied.

But yeah, it's ridiculous. It makes you wonder what the point of watching is. Play well and lose to a world class goal and it's fine. Quite unlucky but it happens to every team. But play well and constantly drop points or get knocked out of cups because of one guy's decisions? What is the point? We have been so unlucky this year, it's unreal really.

I think technology should be used for goals disallowed for offside/handball and also decisions on whether a ball did or didn't cross the line. I don't think doing this would adversely affect the flow of the game (as in effect a goal has been scored and there is always a delay for the celebration anyway. I would be against technology being used for other decisions however (yellow & red cards, penalties awarded, corners/goal kicks, etc.... the problem here is where you draw the line). I would definitely like to see retrospective bans however for players that clearly dive, I'm sure that 3 or even 5!!! game bans would make players think twice here.

Would there have been a television replay at the dugouts straight away? I see them at some games. If so, I would have, either as captain or the manager, told all the players to go over there, and tell the ref to follow them. And tell them they are not restarting the game until the ref has just given them 30 seconds to look. If they are wrong they admit they were wrong, but since they were 100% certain the ball never went over, the ref can see it too and the goal can be disallowed.
 
Utd got another one yesterday at OT, complete dive by Young and ref points to the spot without thinking. The commentators tried to explain it was legit but couldnt and the half time analysis while showing his dive last week did the usual blame the foreigners.

The key is the process whic allows technology to be used. bringing in the technology is the easy part. However if a replay will only be watched when the ref is unsure then its not going to be used that much. Better to have a system whereby we carry on as is and a replay is only watched if (i) ref wants to check a goal line decision and (ii) a manager thinks, for example, that a penalty or red card has been wrongly awarded

Think its needed for red cards as well as they can massively influence games

Am I missing something, that picture clearly show that the ball wasn't over the line.
 
I was watching from the other side of the world on a crappy stream and even I could see it was not even NEAR the line. Atkinson was well positioned, I'm telling you, there is something not quite right about this! He could not have been sure and why did he not take the precaution of consulting his linesmen?

The only positive out if it would be - more pressure on FIFA for goal-line technology
