Ingerlund

Why isn't Rooney simply dropped?
Surely he's playing too brick for sponsors to make sure he's in the team now...

Sponsors have never had any influence on who gets picked for England. As an example see Pearce refusing to select Beckham for TeamGB in 2012.

Perhaps worryingly, a lot of the 'golden generation' players were kept in the team because the managers thought they were the best available.

The thing is, I'm not sure whether Sam was having a go at Rooney or not in front of the cameras.

The comment could have been a back handed compliment directed at Rooney, or it could have been an a joke to distract from the question of why he was playing so deep.

However, England won, its a qualifier, and history will say it was a tough away game where England took maximum points.

Sam is not new to this media wise and is a wily old fox - he may wants to keep Rooney or he maybe not, he will see how things pan out and it's not decision for a 'new boy' on his first gig?

the worrying thing should have been that they were

Liverpool fans: All the Spurs players are terrible, Walker is nowhere near as good as Clyne and it's disgraceful that Sturridge doesn't start.

United fans: All the Spurs players are terrible, Rose is nowhere near as good as Shaw and it's disgraceful that Rashford doesn't start.

I would love for all our players to stay home and train during these breaks.
All I got was how overrated Kane is, yep over 50 league goals in 2 years whilst not playing for one of the really top sides, yep he is 100% overrated

just greed.I hope he hasn't spent the 400k that he is now not going to be getting.Bet he doesn't get sacked because this is the mad world of football.Clearly doesn't have England's best interest at heart.

Tabloid rags and England managers doing what they do best.

Thought the Telegraph was supposed to be a half decent paper.

Surely being England manager means you have to have a degree of integrity - or just plain common sense. Whether he's bent rules or not, he still comes across as a greedy **** because I'd say his £3m+ wages per year are enough. What a donkey. Emarrassing again all 'round.

just had a quick look at the quotes attributed to him, unwise yes but nothing really that bad. He is a nob jockey though so can see why they would go after him and happy if he gets the chop because of it.

It's almost as if no one at the FA watched the Panorama programme on Allardyce
