Ingerlund

Hudson-Odoi is raw. Let's see what can be done. I think there's a player in there, but like Sterling, he is going to need the very best caching to get him close. Sterling still makes the wrong decision more times than not. Kane is such a mature player these days. Glad Dele got another 80 mins to play himself into some fitness and match-rhythm. Interesting how Rose twice covered for Walker gaffes (even though he was a little shaky at times himself). Barkley? Hmmm...Southgate has done a great job IMO. I must admit, I thought Rice was quietly effective and if Keane could play for a better side than Everton I still believe he would be a monster.

5-1 away from home with a load of useless players not a bad result. some people will always hate England its like reading the Tartan Army site on here at times, if their feelings are so negative about the team they should just ignore England.

Am I wrong in thinking our midfield wasn't all that? Dele looked nowhere near his best and in general hasn't done in most of his England caps. Forgetting that he's returning from a 3 month absence, he doesn't look as dangerous when the play is happening on the flanks. We all know how he moves in relation to Kane, but the inside forwards also play a role at Tottenham in drawing players out in order for Dele to exploit the spaces in behind. With England the tactic is to free the wide men as often as possible which means Dele is tasked with creating space and then finding them, something that I don't think his skillset is suited to. I honestly think Winks is a better fit.

Barkley was really sloppy in possession in the second half, there were quite a few times in quick succession where he wanted more touches and got robbed of the ball. His passing was still great and a reason why I'd have him ahead of Dele, those cute passes inside the fullbacks were weighted perfectly and the assist he got is something none of our other midfielders (bar Henderson) could provide. Rice was competent but his composure showed cracks which is understandable for someone on their debut. He showed less of his ability to drive out of midfield and his passing was subpar although those telescopic legs of his made some great tackles.

Dele got a run out that won't hurt him. He really had so little room to work in it was untrue. We really could have played with 10 men it was so crowded around their box.
Take 1-5 away win any day of the week.

“You have to say that Raheem Sterling is now world class,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.

“If you were Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, surely you would want to buy him over Eden Hazard?

“Is there anything Sterling cannot do? His weight of pass is superb, his movement off the ball is lethal and he has become deadly in front of goal.

“What defender in the world would want to face Sterling in this form? It doesn’t matter if you take him on or back off – either way he will destroy you.

“He is still just 24 and improving year on year. His wonderful performances for England in the last two games have confirmed that he can thrive on the international stage.

“Sterling is one of the hottest properties in world football. If I was Real Madrid, I’d be making him my No. 1 target.”

I quite agree the is lots of anti English sentiment on here but it is not just this thread you see it in. I want to see the England team do well and I guess we get a slight bounce when our players play well and mature for their national teams. But I just dont want to see any of my players get injured or fatigued no matter what team they play for.

Kieran Trippier among four out of England squad for Nations League

Nathan Redmond, Harry Winks and James Ward-Prowse also fail to make the cut

Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier has not been included in England's 23-man squad for the Nations League finals.

Spurs midfielder Harry Winks and Southampton duo Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse are the other names to be dropped from Gareth Southgate's preliminary 27-man squad.

Harry Kane, who has not played since April 9 due to an ankle injury, retains his place in the squad. The Tottenham striker declared himself fit on Monday ahead of Sunday's Champions League final against Liverpool.

Dier getting picked and Winks not, is a sign the Southgate doesn't really know what the hell he is doing.

Kane and Dier are established England players and Southgate knows what he gets. Wink's is new and still establishing himself. It's better for Winks that he gets England games when fully match fit.

Can't really complain about Trippier. The other two are in better form. Besides, if Southgate read this forum he wouldn't have Trippier anywhere near the shortlist.
