We just wanted to make members aware of something we've noticed occasionally in both the football and non-football sections.
From time to time, quotes are posted which appear to have been falsely attributed to footballers, managers or other public figures, or which have been taken out of context. We've also seen the occasional link to social-media accounts or commentators whose content seems more geared towards provoking a reaction than providing reliable information.
We're not suggesting this is a widespread problem, but we'd like to avoid it becoming one.
If you come across a post containing a quote, story or social-media link that you suspect may be fake, misleading or deliberately inflammatory, please use the Report function and let the moderation team take a look.
This isn't about restricting opinions or debate. It's simply about trying to ensure that we don't inadvertently give credibility or additional exposure to fabricated information or content designed primarily to stir up hostility.
Thanks for your help..
