I'm in a place called Wales.

Thought we would do holidays in this country this year, for obvious reasons.

Lovely it is. Met some distance cousins of my Irish wife who live down near a place called the mummbles. Beautiful scenery, of course the weather helps and the food in the gastro pubs has been very very good and reasonably priced. People as friendly and nice as could be.

Anyone down this way it is called gower and the is anational trust area called worms head. Got to be one of the most scenic walks we have done.

Off to the lake district in August and a weekend break in York in October. Then maybe a sunny holiday in January if things look normal.

Got to say the weather we had this week if you could guarantee it, you would need to worry about going abroad. Think my tomatoes and veg might have died in the garden after 5 days with no water, will give them a good soaking tomorrow.

The Gower is lovely. Three Cliffs Bay especially. Some nice surf breaks along that stretch as well.

When I've been there (including away days at the Liberty) I've always found the people to be really friendly.

Swansea City Centre was a dump. But then the was a charm to it, comparing it to the always trying to be trendy Brighton.

It is fair to say I have been taken with Wales.

I know you're talking road riding, but from London, Wales is the nearest place for proper mountain biking. Love the place.

In Wales I’ve done both, some great downhill in Snowdonia.

I found some roads so steep I wouldn’t have got up them with the group set on my road bike.

Off to Rhaydar on Friday for 4 days with the family
Staying on a farm literally can't wait, looks a beautiful area

Thanks for the heads up, will pay a visit on my way to the west coast. If the weather is nice, you could rent some ebikes:

If you rent mountain ebikes, you can take in these descents:

Should have called in mwsh...only live 10 minutes from the Mumbles...could have directed you to more low points of the area lol....glad you enjoyed. Agree the city center is looking a bit desperate but you can say that to hundreds of city centre in the UK, things weren't looking too good even before covid etc hit.

I found Swansea far less pretentious then Brighton which apart from some very good restaurants is a place to be avoided or cycled through.

The weather was great when we were in Wales but the people in pubs in little hamlet's were just so nice and normal. I found the landscape beautiful and want to get back down there to cycle and explore before my health leaves me.

What a stunning and beautiful place
Feel very ignorant that I never realised places this beautiful are a drive away (4 1/2 hours) in this country
Could have stayed for another week as we only scratched the surface of the area and I would reckon we will go back in 2022

We went to these places

Climbed a mountain and did lots of other walking too

I am seriously considering a park home, nice places on good parks with good amenities were only £30,000 and £3,000 a year fees. You can even rent them out to cover the annual fees. Beautiful country.
