Igor the Interim

He is of course an intelligent guy, but it is going to require a lot more than that to manage this club at the best of times let alone a serious relegation battle. Zero experience of coaching let alone management, forgive me if I don't think he is the answer - People are just throwing any old name around now, understandable considering our desperate situation I guess.

But the powers that be aren't going to be gambling PL status on Ben Davies, it's easy to come up with names that sound like a good idea when you don't have to make an actual decision....
I think the problem is .....coming up with a name that ACTUALLY IS a good idea.

I agree. My point was that we would sack managers when in those places, or 3 or 4 points off those places in November. We would never let a bit of bad form ride out and trust in a greater plan to maintain a culture, we’d rather rip it up.
It's a while since we've been in that situation. Ange was sacked for being 17th. Conte got himself sacked. Nuno was a shocking appointment, but he was treated badly. Mourinho is probably the only one you could make a case for.

Yeah, it's one of the most ridiculous rumours I've ever heard and obvious nonsense. Ben Davies, Romero, Kulusevski and whoever else are not going to be entrusted to manage this club....

No current player is. However, if the rumour were to hold any credence, the only player who could possibly fit the bill is Davies. You've obviously seen the Maddison/Romero 'dream ticket' floated on the internet in discussion? Madness.

You said earlier that it will take 'a lot more' than what, say, a Davies has to manage this club.
Not for 7 games.
For 7 games, we need someone who can unlock the demons in the squad between their eyebrows and hairlines. We need someone who can make them feel good about themselves as footballers, confident and also angry that they are where they are. Honestly, I am not bothered who that person is as long as they find them. Who knows? Maybe Tudor is now that man? Maybe he's already gone. But whatever, we need to make sure that whoever comes in for these 7 games can do the psyche thing. I am not sure raw 'coaching' at this point is going to be the difference maker.

Good point.

The main resume/CV quality I would be looking for at this point is “man management”.

AVB

He actually had more points than we had the season before from the same games. And 6/6 wins in Europe.

I get the man management angle, but every season there are loads of posts across all Spurs forums about how we should move Davies on because we hold on to players beyond their sell by date.. now he’s being held up as a potential manager?

He doesn’t have ANY managerial experience does he? And he’s meant to come in to a relegation fight when for me we’re favourites to go down, and save us?

There’s been a lot of talk about how Tudor wasn’t the right pick as he hadn’t managed in the Premier league, and he doesn’t have a link to the club. Yet we could go for Davies based on the fact that with no managerial experience, the squad like him? Sure he could motivate them, but you still need some tactics and managerial nous.

Not for me I’m afraid, nice bloke and I actually don’t mind him being in the squad but I think if we go player-manager with ANY of our squad it would be the most tin pot “we’ve given up’ thing we could do. If this is the best we can do, every day that passes is a day closer to a boardroom clearout I hope.

The problem we have is our squad not necessarily the managers. We have no attacking creativity and we have defenders who are all front foot, so can’t play low block or hang on to a scrappy 1-0.

If you go for an attacking manager, we are too open and don’t score enough for it to be effective. Then you have the opposite, say an allardyce or Pulis all defending and hope for a set piece or long ball, well we don’t have the defenders with enough concentration to do that either.

Our only hope is to stay as close as we can until our creativity (kudus/maddison/kulu) come back and play that higher line and basically try to score more then we let in.

This absolutely HAS to be the case doesn't it.

I don’t see how it can be anything else at this point mate. I don’t believe we see a change of owner, I happily would have course, but I’m not confident. However there absolutely needs to be a proper clearing of the decks amongst decision makers regardless of which league we are in.
