I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Aside from the assist, he looked great instantly, battling as he always does, but his passing was working, the guy has so much ability, but it rarely pays off, this little cameo shows how good a player he could be if he could do that most games.

Would be a great turnaround if he ends up pulling his Spurs carter out of his arse and turn it on.

Would like to see Erik being given a decent run in the no 10 role....particulary in the europa league games coming up...

I still maintain he's our most creative player alongside Eriksen.

The key thing is, he looked really good and mostly it was just 10 to 20 yard passes along the deck, nothing too clever, no amazing skills, just proper football and *that* incisive throughball.
Perhaps the amazing skill is to make something difficult look really simple.

I prefer him as a 'passer' than a 'dribbler.' He should continue to look for forward passes and forget about trying to take players on. Just stay sharp, pass, pass, pass and play those killer passes when the runners are there.

This ... keep it simple, avoid the clumsy challenges, keep the ball moving.

Give him the cups to start, see if he makes a couple decent sub appearances before giving him a starting run again in PL

Indeed, it is when he dwells on the ball or attempts to run with it that he has problems, but he is more effective with the quick one touch / incisive passing

I don't think he sees himself as that player. He wants to take people on and be the flair man that gets him into trouble constantly.

Today he came on and kept it simple and showed a couple of nice touches - he actually looked like a prem player! Then he did excellently for the goal.

Great cameo and hopefully this won't be another false dawn

He certainly picked it up deeper and kept it simple
I don't remember him making one tackle but I do remember plenty of passes
He played with his head up for the first time and looked very good
It did help he had people in front running

My concern is if he was to play at 10 he would only probably have one player in front. Today he Almost dropped back with Mason and it brought them out too

Alli was great when he was on and created and pulled them around. Problem was no one anticipated the pass
