In the absence of the great Sheikh a little heads up on the upcoming weather.
Well we've dodged a real cold spell for most of the winter (barely got below 9-10c where i am) but this week that massive high over most of europe (inc southern areas) has brought the first icy blast of the winter.
Originating over russia its powerful spread has pushed our usual weather pattern of too our west and we're pretty much back into the pattern of the last two winters (which btw were not typical). As it draws in that cold air and the north easterly winds get up, it feels nothing but harsh and raw.
Well the main reason for posting is the snow that looks like arriving Sat night into Sunday morning (for midlands to s-east, earlier for NW). A warmer wetter front is trying to push in from the west and as it meets that cold air, snow is almost inevitable. It could keep snowing thru sunday in the south-east. Careful with your travel plans to Anfield on Monday, hopefully it looks like the warm air will hold from london upwards which should let any snow melt.
However Mr powerful cold pressure will not be bullied and looks like (rough prediction this far out) pushing back in and if so more snow tuesday day till thursday pm. And also very cold again. If this happens any snow that has fallen (esp in the SE) will take a fair while to thaw. Anyway start clearing the shelves at your local supermarket
