Hugo Lloris

Saw some good stuff today, but he needs to stay in for a few more for us to see what he's truly like, especially considering how things went today.

problem is new goalkeepers really need a run of games to settle in - i think you'd struggle to find a new goalkeeper elsewhere who makes a faultless start to his time at a new club - having him in and out the side only adds to the problem, imv

give him a run in the team and no doubt he'll iron these things out of his game

He didn't do anything wrong today, but I don't think Friedel would have neither. He, and the whole team were let down by Adebayor. He came for crosses, he rushed out as keepers should do but he still conceded 5 whatever way you look at it.

Would I start him against West Ham, yes. Because I want solidarity in goal.

He's alright, would be a lot better if he was plaYing week in, week out with a settled back four. I believe it helps

He really didnt show why he deserves the spot over friedel, unfortunately...

Once they got the equaliser it was only gonna go one way. Don't think Friedel would have made any difference today. Lloris might have been super motivated today, but the actions of other players put him in a position where it was virtually impossible to look good.

Swings and roundabouts IMO. Possibly questions about one or two goals, but one excellent save and showed good hands on one or two occasions; good and quick off his line on a few others as well, otherwise they might have had about a five-goal cushion with half an hour to play.

wasnt great today ol lloris
Who was great though? I didn't see him make any mistakes - arguably when he punched the ball out with a superman dive, but the ball was cleared out of danger. I hope he gets a run of games now, the transition should start from now. Hopefully then we can see the world class talent shining through.

Oh i agree mate. I would let him start the next league game too but i find it incredible that he managed to get a lot of 6 ratings after conceding 5 goals and showing pretty poor reflexes for 2 goals.

He did what Friedel gets accused of doing but not much is made of it? the 3rd goal went under his arms after he dived well after the shot was taken...isn't that what people said Friedel does and Lloris' agility would see him save those sort of shots? the 5th was slow too.

If we consider them equally good I would play Lloris. He still has potential to improve, Friedel on the other hand don't.

if it was freidel....oh dear.

feel bad for llloris today, had the same exposure freidel has every match and it doesnt taste good

what he needs , as much as brad is a stronger defensive protection from the team to limit how often he has to make these saves / choices.

definately needs more games

saw good things though.

the double handed punch was odd

he needs to stay in......we are in a transition stage for sure now. AVB has to start thinking about the future and Lloris is part of that

As i said i would stick with him too but he didn't showcase his apparent fast reactions and reflexes on this game. Do i think Friedel would have saved any? probably not but the 3rd goal was a goal that would have been labelled friedel's fault by some but it's not even mentioned when lloris does the same damn thing. in fact he gets a lot of 6 ratings....after conceding 5 goals.

Can someone please point me to the "good saves" people say he made today? i saw 1 good save so i'd appreciate if i was shown/told about the other ones?

There was a one handed one where he tipped the ball over and one from short range that he caught. Didn't bother paying too much attention to the second half.

i think where Lloris is new to the side he will get cut some slack as opposed to a player that is settled - you can argue that a lack of game time + moving to a new league/country/team will mean that Lloris will suffer little faults in his game, faults that possibly won't be there in time or with a run of games - so naturally these things won't be scrutinized as much as when Friedel does the same.

both players will not get exactly the same kind of treatment from anyone, in terms of how their performances get appraised and whilst that can be viewed as something sinister like having an agenda or whatever, i think it's just more a case of two players in different circumstances get judged accordingly and a reason why yourself and africans particular defensive attitude towards Friedel is a little unwarranted
