Headphones

HD25's are the best DJ headphones around, always have been. Not the best Hi-Fi cans though.

Under any objective testing, Beat by Dre headphones will be ripped to pieces

It's a pretty marketing product for the sheep mong humanoids

They are so utter brick, it's ridiculous

You can pay 4 times less and get a far superior set of headphones

Serious question.

Maybe it's my age (47) but to see someone bowling down the street in a pair of cans always reduces me to hysterics. They just look so odd. surely they're for indoors or DJ'ing?

You aint the only one mate... I just think they look ridiculous with a whopping big pair of cans plugged into their tiny iPods walking in public! Asif they are saying "Look at me listening to music!!!" your right they are for indoors, DJs and footy pundits only. And Im 28 so aint your age mate

What does it matter? Does it really affect you that much?

Sorry, wasn't meant to sound aggressive. Just wondering why it's such a big deal. I understand you might not wear them (neither do I), but who cares if someone does?

Ok cool. No wasnt making a big deal either... Just voicing what I think bout it thats all. It doesnt bother me in the slightest, after all im not the one whos wearing them, just wondered how we've gone from earphones looking as descreet as poss to big in ya face ridiculous cans? Seems to me its more a fashion statement rather than for sound quality? But hey ho what do i know bout fashion? Naff all thats what :)

In fairness headphones are louder than earphones, and just generally sound better. It's not always a fashion statement, more a way of hearing music in better quality.

I must confess I have a pair of FAKE Dre beats, and they are better than earphones. I'd like to point out that I got them for about £15 from Turkey before anyone rips me to shreds about having them :)

You get a much fuller sound with proper cans. No different to the stupid clothes etc that people were these days

Since when did Amazon turn into some kind of fake shop window?

Half the stuff on there im worried that they turn out to be fake. I didnt even realise that Amazon has turned out like Ebay.

fudgein no confidence now - especially for the higher priced items

Actually you're probably spot on with it being a statement. I went to Uni with a guy who wore a massive pair...and thinking about it now, he was a bit of a dingdonghead. Plus they were brick headphones.

Maybe you had a point in the first place :)

You should be OK if whatever it is is sold by Amazon though, surely?

Not when they sell Beats for £30 - no matter how brick they are they sell for around £70 right?

That order isnt being fulfilled by Amazon though, its a seller who just uses their infrastructure.

If anyone wants some diddy beats with about 5 hours usage then let me know. They dont fit my ears, not really looking for much money but they are sitting round gathering dust, oh and they aren't fake either :0

Don't see the point in wireless. A cable is definately the best way to transmit a strong signal, having it sent wireless just means you'll be changing battery, plus the weight will increase because each side will need a receiver unless its all packed to one side with a connecting cable via the headband, which is likely to keep cost down.

I have issues with parrot. I looked into their asteroid system for my car last year and it promises what it can't deliver. Which is fine, all products have issues etc but I think alot of their pieces are so advanced but difficult to integrate to existing systems.

In any case, headphone wise, the signal equipment usually dictates the quality of the playback. If you're using a minijack into a portable you're already halving the signal strength because market wise nobody puts larger size jack ports like 1/4 inch onto portables because the battery will zonk out, and its ugly. Another key factor is the size of the playback file. CD plays back at huge bitrates, iPhones have their own encoding system, mp3 is laughable sometimes. To play a CD quality feed through wireless cans would require a huge compression/expanding system, so it's safe to assume its compressed as its transmitted, although its probably compressed at source to keep power useage at the headphone end down. So you'll never ever hear the true quality of the signal; it will arrive compressed. This happens down a cable too but far far less and using next to no power.

At the end of the day, headphones are for certain applications. Going on the tube is not one of them, you might as well just get some £50 ones for your iphone.

Fashion is flimflam for mugs.

Bumping this !

Need new headphones for my 13 year-old daughter for Christmas . Basic uses are 1) for her electric piano, she is smashing through piano exams and too good for the average phones she has , 2) loves listening to music, not into dj'ing or anything but being a music student she really picks up the sound changes.

All sounds a bit vague I'm sure but I think it's time to make the her equipment keep up with her education.

Over-ears/cups preferred, noise cancelling essential , price not so important. Obviously don't want to waste money but prepared to pay for a great product .

One other thing , prices in oz are shocking but I have friends travelling to US and Singapore soon so could get them to pick up there ( can be over one hundred dollars cheaper in US than Oz )

Your best advice would be rewarded with beer when we next meet !!

Bose noise cancelling are very expensive (£260.00 in the UK) but amazing sound and incredibly comfy.

I like that Bose have detachable cables as well so if the cable goes you can just replace that part but also if you have them on and catch the cable on something it just comes out of the headset rather than ripping them off your head! (I do this a lot ;))
