Harry Kane MBE

Its all ifs and buts, we will never know.
After CL final, fund the rebuild?

Has any club successfully sold their best player to fund a rebuild? The only time I recall it happening in England, and I’ll stand corrected here, is when Saudi Sportswashing Machine sold Andy Cole to United. And given that they won nothing and Cole played a key role in United winning trophy after trophy, it doesn’t look the wisest decision in hindsight.

I was thinking of that Liverpool game at Wembley where we scored about 25 goals, then a few months later he's anonymous against the same team in Madrid

It was 18 months later wasn’t it? And that was close to the peak of the Poch era team while, by the CL final, we were falling apart.

Not to mention that he played against Lovren that day and peak VVD in the CL final.

Fergie did it a few times, not necessarily for a rebuild, but to move the team on.

He wasn't the only one who didn't turn up that day to be fair, Eriksen was equally cowardly.

Nothing in it, both brick.

Liverpool with coutinho.

Ince, Beckham, van Nistelrooy, McGrath/Whiteside, probably a few more examples

Reminds me of Leeds selling Cantona.

Every time Zlatan has moved.

Was Ince their best player? Was Beckham? Van Nistlerooy maybe. Whiteside and McGrath certainly not. And all of those instances, including Cantona at Leeds, have one thing in common. All of those players had become a problem from a behaviour/discipline perspective which is why they were sold.

Kane, last summer aside, has never been anything other than a model pro.

If continually doing something you're crap at (free-kicks) is being a model then I'm a super star.

Klopp sanctioned the move, they played hard ball over price same as everyone would.

They didn't willingly sell him. They forced him to hang on 6 months IIRC. They may have played hardball over the price but that was after the player made it clear he wasn't staying.

As i recall only to tap up vvd, once that deal was lined up they were happy enough to let him go.

This has been going on for more years than i care to remember, it's a bit odd that kane is always "off form" when it matters.
His record is terrible in big games, even when Eriksen was pulling the strings.

What about the CB’s whose job it is partly to build attacks? What about the full backs who Conte quite heavily relies on in his system? Or Højbjerg and Bentancur?

Those two games you cited were about 20 months apart in which time Liverpool went out and improved their first team including getting Van Dijk, Alisson and Robertson but I suspect you knew that but just don’t want to admit it.
